My College Story

Overall Gayatri Vidya Parishad has a great image in the MNCs, Parents and students for providing a quality education at the same time taking care that there is an all round performance and participation of all the students to have a balance of life and good exposure for the students.

I have taken EAMCET examination conducted by Board of Intermediate Andhra Pradesh, where I had obtained 9231 rank. I have opted for this college because it is one of the renowned colleges in Visakhapatnam with good academic record and also has good record in providing placements to the students.

The course curriculum is very good because it is ensured to have a good foundation in the students with regard to the basics which helps us understand the complicated topics easily. The curriculum has a balance between theoretical and practical knowledge. The curriculum is prescribed by Andhra University as the college is affiliated to Andhra University.

The college recommends high level internships for the toppers and ensures that each every one is provided with an internship. There is an MOU with AICTE and BSNL to provide an internship for the top 20 students of the department for about 50-60 weeks. It also provided in the communications department of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for 10 students. SImilarly in All India Radio, Aviation Department in Hyderabad, ECIL Hyderabad etc.

The placements and job opportunities are very good. The placement officer is very dedicated in bringing as many job opportunities as possible. The top companies that have visited our campus are Amazon, Deloitte, TCS, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Polaris, Mind Tree, Red Software solutions etc. The packages offered to the students range from a minimum of 3.5 lakhs to a maximum of 12.6 lakhs per annum according to the companies.

We have cultural, technical, sports and academic events spread all over the year to create a balance in life. A technical expo is conducted every year in February named Texagra for 3 days where the public is invited to view the innovations of the students for the year by exhibiting them. We also have an Annual Day Celebration in March every year.

The fee structure is decided by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It is variable according to the rating given to the college by Education Board of Andhra Pradesh and AICTE every year. Usually it is A grade college so ranges between 65000 - 75000 per annum. When compared to the facilities and quality of education and opportunities given to the fee structure it seems to be quite reasonable and in fact feasible when compared on same grounds with other colleges in the region.

There are scholarships provided by college and student associations of the college as well every year to students who are economically backward and show good talent in academics. There is also a scholarship offered by Government of Andhra Pradesh to all the students who doesn't possess any back-logs and are economically backward as well on proper verifications.

The campus life is cool with friends from different places in the state as well as country. There are student associations for every department and a unified association for all the departments. The core committees are elected every year on basis of the all round performance. We have cultural, technical, sports and academic events spread all over the year to create a balance in life. The Sports, debates, elocutions, quizzes and essay writings, technical competitions are conducted and evaluated by the senior most faculty to provide quality results and also identify the right talent who can represent the college in corresponding events.

For Girls, the hostel is in the premises of the college with good Wi-Fi faciltites, wash rooms and common areas. The rooms are well-maintained and has two and three sharing rooms. 24 hours security will be there hence it always risk free. For Boys it is off campus hostel and heard it to be in the similar manner. The food is good and mostly vegetarian and chicken curry only on sundays. There are two canteens in the college premises where we can get a variety of items a-la-carte.

The alumni always are in touch with the juniors and have a constant collaboration with the college to ensure that the students get exposure to people who are in the real world who have studied once upon a time sitting in their seats. They are friendly and always help in the best way they could to help their juniors.

The external exam structure is decided by the andhra university with their sole interest and decision. The external exams are conducted on a semester basis. The college conducts two internal examinations for theory and one lab internal exam per semester. The lab sessions are only two days a week and that too its a 5 day week so its not that hectic.

The faculty are good, helpful and always reachable for doubts even on phone off the college hours. The HOD always keeps a track on the faculties' teaching methods to ensure they provide quality knowledge. The faculty frequently undergo orientation programmes by experts of the domain to enhance their knowledge to help us in the best way. The college ensures that the faculty possess a minimum of Post-Graduation Degree. So in all the ways the faculty are good.
