Remarks

They should allow the Biomedical students to have the same opportunity as the other students when it comes to Placement. They should at least allow us to attend. Also, please try to bring more companies aside than medical coding for the Biomedical Engineering department.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is not up to the mark because all the syllabus provided by Anna University is very old. Most of them are not in existence, but I do accept the fact that there are few subjects that are very basics for Biomedical Engineering which was very helpful in the later part. Now I'm working in an MNC where I'm involved in working with medical devices. Here in work some of my courses are very helpful obviously because medical devices and stuff related to them were taught in the college, precisely put I learned by myself rather than saying that they taught us all.

Placement Experience

1

We had placements but are very limited. We were not allowed to attend any IT companies because we are Biomedical department except the person with 8. 3 above CGPA, there were hardly 5 in our class, they had the opportunity to attend unlike us. On the other hand, all the other departments had a minimum qualification to be 6. 5 CGPA. We had Medial Coding companies which are not good for Biomedical Engineering graduates. Because anyone with the knowledge of human physiology can do it. Not that it's bad, but we all had very high expectation in our field or at least in any IT companies. We all got placed in medical coding companies with the package less than 2. 5 which was the max. Also, there was one company that provided a high package but they had selected only persons who are apparently the toppers of our class based on CGPA. But I had done an Internship at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Hospital with 2 other of my friends on our own to know about the field in semester holidays which the college never helped us in getting the internship.

College Events

0.5

We never had any celebration in its history as of 2017 nor we were allowed to go to other colleges. But we were allowed to go for the paper presentations to other colleges but we had to take leave. During my final year, our college has a deemed university of its own where they were allowed to have celebrations and other stuff, we went for paper presentation and knowledge sharing.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Academic fees are as per government rules but they did charge a lot for my book and materials. FYI - For biomedical there's no book as of now. We all refer the Google. But we had to pay the fees and some for other amenities which I never saw in my whole college life.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I have not availed of any scholarship. Because of that, the caste plays a major role. But I availed bank loans by my GPA I secured every semester. Based on our marks only I got my bank loans. College never helped me getting the loans.

Campus Life

3

It was all there, but with the assignments, they provided we barely had time to play. So in whole college very few had the privilege to get that time. But we never had a problem with the gender difference. All had chances but none of us had enough time to at least look into it.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Coming to the Hostel fees, it was very expensive that we could possibly imagine. Since I was from a small village with no one in Chennai I had to pay the fees and stay put. But the food was not up to the mark to the money we paid.

Alumni/Alumna

No none of them were helpful. Because all got into Medical coding and some went for higher studies. Also, some totally changed their stream.

Admission

When I completed my 12th class, I didn't score enough marks to enter into Medical College but got a Dental one, which I was not interested in at that time. So I was into Agricultural Courses but due to my caste I didn't get into the college I was expecting so my parents asked me to go into Engineering. Since my parents are both in the medical field I always had a few insights into the medical field.

Faculty

3.5

Since Biomedical is very new not all have many experiences in the field. Because most of them had not done Biomedical in their UG but in their PG they've done Medical Electronics which helps them to sustain. I'd say that those faculties lag behind knowledge when it comes to human physiology, ultimately all links with the body.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Placement Experience:

1.) Placement begins from the pre-final year and we are allowed to apply for companies from the final year. 2.) Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.

Placement Experience:

The students become elgible for placements right from the 5th semester of their course work. The students who have no standing arrears become elgibile in the first place. There are many companies visiting the college where Infosys, Cognizant, Virtusa are the mass recruiters. The are many other companies like TCS, Wipro, Zoho etc. visiting the college placement drive. On overall 90% of students gets placed every year. The highest package of 25lakhs per annum was offered by amazon for 3 students. My plans after getting degree is to get placed in any of the company.
