Vikas Purohit's Review On MBM Engineering College - [MBM], Jodhpur

Pre Engineering Test - Rajasthan. I appeared for the written exam and secured 580th position in Rajasthan. MBM is considered as second best college in Rajasthan and the all the seats in the top college were full, so I opted for MBM College. Additionally, I am a local resident of Jodhpur, so it was a cost-effective course for me.There were other options available in some private colleges, but I preferred real college over shops and reaped the benefits of my decision.

The course curriculum was very exhaustive with deep focus on all the technologies a Civil Engineer needs to learn to make a strong base. It covered all aspects right from R.C.C. and Steel Design of construction engineering to Dam designing, Fluid mechanics and Soil Engineering.The labs were well equipped with all the machines and tools available to us in ample quantity. The only thing missing was focus on use of software like Auto-CAD etc., which are the latest ways of how Civil Engineers operate in today's market.

We mostly opted for Government offices so no stipends. However, there were wide range of companies that took students for internships, right from Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Nirmaan Yojna to Delhi Metro Corporation. Some students opted for private organizations like L&T etc., but I have no idea on stipends.

Placement opportunities are ample. Almost all good students got placed in reputed companies. There were few who were good in studies but lacked interview cracking skills and hence did not get placed immediately, but almost everybody is very well settled now and have prosperous carriers.

There are lots of good scholarships available coming from various agencies and ex-students of the college for the needy students. The method of awarding scholarship was not transparent though and we saw many times some students who did not need the money also got scholarships. I am not sure on loan facility.

Campus life was extremely relaxed, but there were some incidents of violence also based on some caste based clashes. However, students who did not wish to get involved in all such issues, never got impacted. Lots of sport activities and cultural events were arranged. However, other activities like debates etc. were very limited.

It has been extremely good. Recently, all the college alumni contributed and saved some student's life. So, its that level of involvement from alumni. During the college tenure also, seniors were very co-operative and helpful.

The faculty was highly qualified with highly experienced professors and the ones who also worked as independent consultants in markets, so they were in touch with practicalities also, rather than just bookish professors.Flip side was that since it was a Government College, some professors were very irregular and also focused more on their private consultancies rather than devoting time to students. Still, majority were very regular.
