Beneeta Ann Lewis's Review On St Teresa's College (Autonomous), Ernakulam

The fact that it was a purely women’s space where I would be given numerous opportunities to be part of something bigger and encouraged to build an identity and personality of my own. A few conversations with immediate seniors from the college helped me see a confident and determined side of women which inspired me. The feedback I had received from friends and family who were former students of the college was quite reassuring.

The curriculum is an attempt to cover all possible areas of importance to a graduate in the commerce field. Though few subjects are sometimes trying it is easy to cope since the department has the most exceptional professors you can imagine. Subjects like tax which undergo changes each year are updated accordingly so there is never a portion you learn that is not valid anymore. Being exposed to a number of subjects gives the student a better view on what he/she can pursue in the future. My department, Commerce (Regular) has the best faculties if I am allowed to put it that way.

Companies like EY, WIPRO,CALVIN KLEIN and more visited our college directly for interviews. There were numerous companies who held preliminary tests and interviews outside the campus to which we we had direst access through the Placement Cell. Placements came for the position of Marketing assistant, financial assistant, associate analyst, etc especially for the commerce graduates. Entrepreneur Development Cell is quite active and many of our batch mates have successfully set up their business both in offline and online modes.

Campus life is filled with activities. The highlight is the Teresian Week a entire week of art and literary activities both onstage and off stage. Besides that each department holds their festivals and events which may be inter departmental or inter collegiate. Numerous national and international seminars by eminent speakers are held regularly. Cells like Placement Cell, Women’s Cell, Environment Protection cell, NSS, NCC are very active and have huge participation.

The infrastructural facilities are quite nice. There is a sports cell where anyone can enrol based on their skill sets. Wi-fi can be availed whenever required. A huge library extending upto to two floors and a loft is right at the centre of the campus. Labs are well equipped. There are basketball courts and gyms.
