Remarks
I choose this university mainly because of its past reputation and rich heritage. Also, being situated in College Street in Central Kolkata, the university also has a locational advantage. The Economics department here is reputed having produced many well-known alumni.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is a mix of theoretical as well as applied courses. There are courses which provide training in softwares such as Excel, are and other statistical softwares. So the course structure is well updated to cater to modern industrial needs in my opinion.
Placement Experience
Placements mainly take place in Statistics and Economics departments which are conducted by the department itself. Mainly companies like HSBC, Bridgei2i, Ernst and Young, KPMG, etc. visit to offer role like analyst, data analyst, data scientist, etc. The alumni are quite helpful from what I have heard.
College Events
There are many fests and events held during a year such as Ispat, Ikon, Milieu, etc. All have widespread participation. Food stalls, art stalls, interdepartmental matches, concerts are common features of these fests.
Campus Life
Sports facilities are decent. There is Wi-Fi facility available in the campus. The libraries are big enough with sufficient number of books to cater to the needs of the students. The class-rooms are air-conditioned and spacious.
