Remarks

Sivanath Sastri College is one of the top college for commerce in Kolkata. It provides good and sufficient knowledge for students. Faculty members of our department are so good. They provide necessary notes and clear the concept of each topic in every semesters.They help a lot whenever required. Being a government affiliated college the fees structure is also feasible. One need to pay 11200 once in the year. Our college campus is ragging free. Seniors are helpful and co-operative. Our college has a non political student union. It's also encourages student to participate in different events to showcase their talents. Our college has a good collection of books in the library.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our college is under University of Calcutta. So it follows the university syllabus and exam pattern. Our course is under CBCS system. We have to pass 6 semesters to get the degree for the applied course.80marks theory for honours paper exam. And for general paper exam 80marks multiple choice questions. 10marks internal and 10marks for attendence. One must have 60% minimum attendence to sit for the university exam. Faculty members of our college are amazing. They are helpful and co-operative.

Course Fees: INR 33600 per year

Placement Experience

I'm not aware of such placements and job opportunities till now. As our college do not have a provision for placements the college is trying to overcome this shortcoming by providing us with seminars and other counselling sessions. But also, I've heard that various companies like TCS, Wipro come to our college for giving job opportunities to the final year students.Many students got selected every year from such companies.

College Events

Campus life is fun and enjoyable.Our college encourages the students in extra curricular activities.Many cultural events like Saraswati pujo, Fresher's Welcome, Holi event (Rangmanch), Teacher's Day celebration, Independence day celebration are also oraganized. Our college participates in various fests around the city. Students can showcase their talents in different events by participating in those fest. Also, our college campus is ragging free. It's safe for all the students.

Campus Life

The infrastructure of our college is good enough. Our college campus is surrounded by plants.It also provide free WiFi.Our college has a good collection of books in the library on all subjects taught in the college as well as on related subjects. It also organize "Annual Sports Meet" to encourage the students to take part in indoor and outdoor games. However, I don't like the canteen area. It's too small.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Various Jewelleries company has visited, and even companies like Google, Tata and many has visited. As per i know the highest package were in lacs per month. The college provides 100% placement. After getting the degree, I'll do masters in business administration.

My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I did chose this course to learn more about accounting and finance and the cirriculum prepares you perfectly for the real world. The exams were conducted very soon in few semester only giving 3 months for the students to prepare . the professors were good at teaching and somehow used to complete the syllabus

SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.

Moderate College Life.

After HS I applied many colleges but I didn't got chance at the top notch colleges as they damand more marks than I got. After trying so many colleges I finally got admitted to this college.
