Anonymous's Review On GITAM, Visakhapatnam

The contributing factor which led me to apply in GITAM is the reputation it has and a student will get a lot of networking opportunities to build a career. I absolutely love the infrastructure and the resources it has to offer are impeccable. It all depends upon a student how he/she utilizes it. I am from B.com(Hons) 2017-20 batch, this particular course which GITAM Institute of Management offers is unique from normal B.com as a student gets to study Association of chartered certified accountants(ACCA) subjects and the students can pursue this professional course along with the semesters.

The course curriculum is unique as a student gets exposure to advanced courses which is not usual in an undergraduate course structure. The syllabus is challenging and the faculty makes sure they give their best. All the faculty are PhD scholars, adds to the candidature of the student and gains insight through them. Throughout the three years, the student gets to attend many seminars and workshops with eminent Industry leaders.

Since I am an Undergraduate student, there are no internship opportunities on campus.

Many notable companies visit GITAM campus especially for MBA batches like collegeate, HDFC, Nestle, TCS, ICICI. Many of these companies offer placement opportunities for UG students as well. So the placement process is typically the same for all the profiles, firstly a Group Discussion round and a Personal Interview. Few companies conduct aptitude test as well. The placement cell constantly communicates with the students and guide them for the best companies out there. Coming to the entrepreneur cell, the students can work upon their ideas and get guidance from the professors out there.

The campus has a lot to offer when it comes to extracurricular activities. One can be a part of KALAKRITHI GITAM Cultural club which attracts around 1000+ students for auditions to be a part of it and only 250 odd people get into it. If you are not a part of it, don't be disappointed as you got a lot of other clubs on campus ranging from NSS, NCC, Rotaract Club, Toastmasters club and many department clubs on board. The Management fests are huge and each department in the campus has its own fest at different times in a year, so a student will come across at least 10+ fests which attract more than 2000+ students from different colleges from the city of Visakhapatnam and South India.

I availed for a need-based financial aid which is sponsored for students family income is less than 250000 rupees, so I received an amount of 10000 each semester provided that I scored a GPA above 7 and attendance above 75%. And from the academic year 2020, they are introducing merit-based scholarships as well.

GITAM has one of the best Infrastructure in South India, especially in Visakhapatnam Campus. It has Knowledge Resource Centre which is the central library with 5 floors ; each department has different rooms along with a digital library and current periodicals section, Seminar halls, an open-air amphitheatre for the fests, wifi access in the computer labs, air-conditioned class rooms, a lot of gardens to calm the student's nerves after rigorous classes, two temples inside the campus to answer your prayers. And the good news is for the foodies, it has various food joints to chill like thick shake factory and subway to name a few along to other canteens and golgappa and ice gola stalls. For sports enthusiasts, it has two cricket stadiums, volley ball and basketball courts, Indoor games, tennis courts, and gym.

No, I didn't opt for a hostel but I have friends who stay in the Hostel. From their experience, I can say it is pretty safe and sound place. It is on triple and quadruple sharing basis. The hostel seats are sufficient for all so there is no worry of running out. if the student doesn't want to stay on campus, there are student PG near the campus which is a kilometre away.
