Remarks
St. Teresa's College for women, Kochi is one of the best colleges in Kerala. The college has been accredited by NAAC with A++ grade. Apart from the academic excellence, the college is the talent hub of Kochi. The college has been the overall champion in the MG University Youth Festival for seven consecutive years.
Course Curriculum Overview
The department of English and centre for research is one of the best departments in the college. The department offers UG, PG, MPhil and PhD. The department has an excellent team of faculty, 60% of whom are PhD holders. The teachers themselves are keen learners and want the students also to be good learners. They are academically and technologically competent enough to come up with innovative teaching and learning methods. One of the bes things in the college is the faculty. I don't think I could have got better teachers in any other college. The curriculum of the course was an older one but it is updated for our juniors. Apart from academics, the department also focuses on the social and community responsibility of the students. As a part of the Teresian Rural outreach programme, I worked with an NGO.
Placement Experience
The college has a placement cell which organises placement campaigns and invites various companies. Allianz India, UAE exchange, Infosys, Abasoft technologies, federal bank, Sutherland global services,wipro and TCS are some of the recruiters.
College Events
The college hosts numerous programmes every day by different departments. These include seminars and workshops. The college welcomes the freshers with an orientation and Talents Day. The most awaited event of the college is the Teresian Week which is a series of competitions between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd years and the PG students. Teresian week witnesses the true Teresian spirit and is bestowed with the presence of celebrities. Another prominent event is Kaleidoscope- the graduation show of the fashion designing students. Besides, the college hosts various film auditions and opens up an array of opportunities for talented students.
Campus Life
The college has considerably good infrastructure except the relatively smaller campus. The college consists of two blocks- Arts and Science block. It offers free wifi inside the campus. The college has a sophisticated Library and a media lab. The college does not have a college ground and hence the sports activities are held in a separate ground outside the campus. The college has a big auditorium with the seating capacity of 3000 students. The science students have well equipped labs. The college canteen was recently renovated.
