Remarks
It's a two hundred year old, prestigious university. The faculty seemed great, and my interest was research. So it all fell into place. I liked the ambience, small batch factor, and great amenities they provided.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is good for research oriented studies, not something competitive like UPSC. Even though Ancient History is a bit lacking, due to non availability of facutly. The number of faculty should be more, it's 9 currently, but they are good professors overall.
Placement Experience
The alumni network is great, but placements are few. Recruiters don't come around that often, and that's why a lot of interested people don't get placed, and have to seek alternative methods of getting employed. Thus, it's better to come here only for someone who wants to do research and stay in academia in the future.
College Events
The campus life is enjoyable. Something or the other is always happening in the Canteen area. People sing, dance, play cards, enjoy conversations with friends, etc. when they are not in class. The Union Room has a TT and Carrom Board, so that keeps people busy. Some play Badminton in it's designated court. The Students' Council conducts various activities around the year, along with the annual fest- Milieu. The participation is outstanding, with over 3000 students joining in from all around Kolkata. The Quiz and Debate societies are very active.
Campus Life
Sports facilities are not up to the mark. The playground is mostly under renovation. Wifi is available, albeit, it's not very fast. The libraries are great, they are two in number, with a good collection of books from every academic sphere. Lab equipment is adequate and pretty good for such a small university. Volleyball and Basketball can be played, though.
