Remarks
I am proud of doing my MBBS from highly reputed good quality medical college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum and exam structure was relevant and fair. We used to have regular lectures, practicals and hospital visit for clinical learning. The curriculam was groomed to provide industry-specific knowledge. After passing the exam, we had rural posting also to have experience of working in rural areas.
Placement Experience
All the students got internship in LHMC after passing the final MBBS exam. We did not have any visits from any companies or hospitals.
College Events
We used to have our college functions with music, dance, poetry, dramas, debate, fancy dress shows etc. sometimes. I enjoyed a lot those functions. It was a nice way to develop friendhip and bonding. Teachers also used to attend and enjoy these functions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was feasible. There was no additional fees for securing admission for those who got admission through entrance exam. The fee was paid by cash or cheque to the college account. There was transparency in the fee-breakdown. Government helped those who were selected through competition.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan. My father payed for my college and hostel fee. I don't remember about schoarships and education loan at that time.
Campus Life
LHMC is a women only college at graduation level. The students were mostly Indian, some were from Africa and other countries also. There was tolerance with regards to religion and race. Most of the time students had to study a lot. Sports and cultural activities were rare.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in hostel inside the LHMC campus in a single room with common bathroom and toilets. The rooms were comfortable. The mess was on the ground floor run by students. The food was alright. It used to be closed on Sunday evenings.
Alumni/Alumna
We used to have ragging for first year students by senior students. There is alumni network. I am not very interested in it.
Admission
I wanted to become a doctor and help people. The Lady Hardinge Medical College has a good reputation in quality teaching. I was living with my parents in Delhi. I found it easy and economic to stay with my parents and attend college every-day in the beginnig. I filled the form for the entrance exam, took the exam and got selected in LHMC in August 1975.
Faculty
All the lecturers were postgraduate in their subject with a lot of experience. There were enough lecturers in our course. The average age of lectureres was about 45 years. The lecturers had postgraduation degree certificate and they had experience of teaching in medical colleges.
