Remarks
My overall experience was great in University of Hyderabad. The administration work is a bit tedious I feel.
Course Curriculum Overview
The coursework was good, it included all the subjects that one might need in order to understand the subject better, and also gave exposure of different topics where one can do research. We had practical classes on all the subjects that we learnt theoretically. We had our classes on industrial biotech in one semester, but didn't have any practical experience, or any industrial visit.
Placement Experience
Placements were not that good during our time, mostly were different coaching institutes like Aakash institute, Byjus, Cactus and AP schools. We didn't have any industries for our placements.
College Events
We had our annual function Sukoon, which included sports, cultural activities and setting up food stalls. And then all departments had their individual fests, our department, School of Life sciences organizes Bioquest, which includes paper presents and cultural program
Fee Structure And Facilities
Our course fees was feasible, around 5000 per semester, including hostel fees which was around 500, and they provided complete fee breakdown. The mode of payments accepted were online money transfer and through challan. No they do not charge any additional fees for admission.
Fees and Financial Aid
The qualification of the entrance exam JNU CEEB itself provided scholarship to all the students. They give 5000rs per month.
Campus Life
There was equality in campus, it wasn't gender biased. And there was complete safety inside the campus, and no such separate restrictions were imposed on females. There was no differentiations made based on caste or race. The political parties were very strong and most of the students were interested in it. All festivals were celebrated and it completely depended on the students as to what they wanted to celebrate.
Hostel Facilities
Yes I opted for hostel. All outstation students were qualified for hostel. We got rooms in sharing basis, 2 in each room, and had common washrooms for each wing. The hostel fees was 500rs per semester.
Alumni/Alumna
Our seniors were quite helpful, the shared their study material with us and also guided us to which lab we should choose for our research work for MSc project
Admission
I wanted to pursue masters in Biotechnology. I qualified JNU CEEB with 22nd rank. My professors guided me through the college's where I would get the best experience and HCU was the best option. It provided a great practical and research exposure in my field. The admission procedure was simple. They provide a date when you need to come for the admission with all the academic certificates you recieved till date, both original and their photocopies, and also your passport size photograph. They'll verify those and then you have to pay the admission fees.
Faculty
We had 13 faculties, of which 5 were professors, 5 associate professors, and 3 assistant professors. All are very excellent teachers, who taught us different subjects, guided us very well throughout and cleared our doubts. They thought us by giving various examples, sharing research papers, and gave us practical knowledge too.
