Sweet and sour memories from my college

Overall the management was good. They gave us the freedom we deserved. Also they looked into petty problems of students which was good. My experience was good.

No industrial visits were organized during that time. Whole focus of worthy Professors was on academics. Although subject specific it generated quest for research work which can be done in post graduation. Also medical subjects comprised botany Zoology and chemistry which were thoroughly studied both theoretically and practical. It gave impetus for preparing better for entrance exam of post graduation. No campus selections were there.

No there weren't any campus placements during our time as our graduation course wasn't industry specific.

Beside recreational tours we had study tours to study natural biology in places like chail near Shimla. Our college also organized annual day functions and sports events for us. During sports and cultural meet teams from outside college also participated.

Our fee was on annual pattern and not very expensive about 50 thousand overall i spent for graduation. There weren't any additional charges for securing admission. It was based on merit. Fee structure was equal for all so transparency was there. Although we were imposed fines if we skipped lectures. Also if there was any lab breakdown of items fine was there. College authorities also provided aid to needy students in the form of books and other study materials. We had a great library in which almost every reference book was available for us. Needy students found this library as a bliss.

No i didn't opted for scholarship. It was basically for poor students who have to mention income certificates of their families during admission and opt for scholarship which was given to them depending on their performance.

During my time it was only boys college. There was gender equality. No difference of rich and poor. Students participated in cultural and sports meet equally. Debates on political and current scenarios were organized annually. Even cultural and sports meet were prevalent.

No i was having my own house. So i didn't opted for hostel. But i used to visit my friends in hostel. Most of the hostel rooms were sharing for two persons. Admission in hostel was on merit basis. But first come was also prevalent if meritorious students don't opt. There were ample hostel rooms but some students also opted outside pgs which was costly that is around 5000 a month. Hostel mess and recreational rooms were good. Hostel canteen items were flawless.

There is no specific interaction with my seniors as i remember. Although we came across them in college lobbies but interaction was meagre. They remained conscious for their career. So everyone's preoccupied with their own things. No alumni meet attended by me as i rarely got time.

After plus two medical i tried my best to clear the entrance for medical exam. Even i spent a year preparing after plus two but to no avail. It was if the end of everything. There was no better option to me after my defeat. My Father told me to join B. Sc. Medical in reputed college of Chandigarh which was DAV sector 10. During this time admissions were based on merit. At counseling certificates of plus two and tenth were checked and admission was done. I reluctantly with heavy heart joined the course. In the beginning it seemed as if i am drifted from my main goal and my self esteem was also low. But as time passed by i mixed with friends there and enjoyed their company. Slowly i gained interest in my course and my interest gave me fruit for the coming three years of graduation in which i came in merit and won accolades. I completed my graduation with distinction. The main thing in this college time was my freedom to study and enjoy which i did equally. Even bunked classes some times to play cricket with my college friends and watched movies too. Overall i enjoyed and my despair went with time. So sometimes failing in one mission is not the end of world. Maybe Almighty has given us a new path to follow.

Around 75 lectures per subject. Faculty comprised of senior old professors (58-60 years) holding vast experience in their field with subject on their fingertips. Their basic knowledge fulfilled my basic knowledge. I don't think that botany and Zoology field professors had industry experience but my chemistry professors held industry specific experience
