Remarks
It has one of the most prestigious and oldest law colleges in the country known abroad as well. Its Alma Mater list is full of Supreme court and High court judges, Cabinet Minister and judges of foreign countries too. With the passage of time, there has been a bit of erosion in the quality of faculty which needs to be taken care of by the administration. There are approximately 2000 seats for LLB every year with morning (8.30 to 2.30 PM) and evening batches (2 to 8 PM) for the sake of convenience of students. India being a welfare state has a constitutional duty to spend on education to curb the disparities among weaker sections of society which makes it the first preference for many and the dates for entrance is generally between May and June of every year. Students have the opportunity to select between the three centres (CLC, LC1, LC2) as per their convenience at the time of filling the entrance form.
Course Curriculum Overview
Law is something every citizen must be aware with as the maxim says Ignorantia Juris Non-Excusat which means ignorance of the law excuses no one, so it's better to be aware of the same. Secondly, it offers plenty of opportunities for a young graduate to pursue law as a bright career opportunity. The legal profession is a noble profession earning lots of respect as well as $. Law faculty has a favourable ratio of boys and girls of all ages but the ratio of third gender (LGBTQ) needs to be encouraged. Faculty members are understanding and encouraging and most importantly about teaching is that the Law Faculty of Delhi University is known for its unique teaching methodology. It's case material specially handcrafted by the professor's of the FACULTY OF LAW, DU provides a rich and precise study material which students used to preserve for their future reference too.
Internships Opportunities
Placement cell is keen to provide an opportunity to intern with leading firms which can be availed by students easily. Besides this, several moot court competition is conducted by the institution KK LUTHRA MOOT COURT COMPETITION being one of the most renowned. In the last few years initiative has been taken by student union too to conduct a MOOT COURT COMPETITION which is also a Welcome step. Internship opportunity has been provided by leading Law Firms located in New Delhi.
Placement Experience
There is a PLACEMENT CELL run by students of the FACULTY of law which is least accessible or used to be accessed by students. Besides all of them, some of the students prefer to prepare for judiciary to be a judge or some of them dream to be a good criminal lawyer or a civil lawyer depending upon their choice. As much as I'm concerned after getting my degree I'm planning to pursue LLM from the same University and thereafter PhD which again provides you with plenty of opportunities like teaching as a professor in Law Colleges. Overall I can say once you have earned a degree from this prestigious institution you will definitely find your way towards success.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure of LLB is very reasonable I haven't heard anyone with scholarship. If seen as a monthly break up it will barely touch 1000 bucks every month. There is nothing like Campus Jobs as we see in countries like USA, UK, AUSTRALIA and others but Yes, some of my friends who are financially weak avail some teaching jobs as a private tutor or work at a nearby store. Students can find opportunities to intern at some big law firms which can at times provide stipends too. This usually helps to sustain the travelling cost of the students.
Campus Life
Delhi University is known for its student politics and its union is known as DUSU. FACULTY OF LAW has it's own student union too unlike most of the colleges of Delhi University. It's a learning experience if one is interested in politics, one can have insights into how they work by volunteering with some of the unions. Students organisations like ABVP, NSUI, AISA, CYSS are known organisation fighting for the students Right in their own way.
