Remarks

College Good. Pedagogy is good. Infrastructure is good. Extracurricular good. Learning opportunities Good. Huge batch size Bad Compromise on CTC offered due to batch size Bad. Extra Strict, makes you feel like school. Bad.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Case Study Method is a great advantage in understanding contemporary business environment with respect to the concepts theoretically. Each case has a direct bearing on the industry as cases are based on actual companies and market events. The extracurricular activities and events have a great impact on grooming and PDP (though it greatly depends on the individual student's involvement) Industrial visits were a few industrial fares.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are OK. Huge batch size severely affects the average value of CTC offered to the student. Selection criteria were majorly GD & PI, though a few conducted an aptitude Test and case discussion. Major companies were WIPRO, Citibank, Bharti Airtel, Net Elixir, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, shine.com, CBRE, ICICI Securities, HDFC Life, SBI, Idea. Most of the companies had offices in and around Andhra Pradesh.

College Events

4

Huge batch size made every event look like a festival. Events and festivals were based on all similar Themes like every B-SCHOOL. 2-3 Day Aaveg- Sports Fest. Intercollege event. 3 Day Trishna Annual Fest. Intercollege event had competitive events on every academic stream like Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Cultural, etc. A week-long Freshers Event. The extracurricular clubs in marketing, Advertising, Entrepreneurship, Operations etc conduct regular events for students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure changes every year. Twelve Lacs including Residential Campus Fee. Accepted by DD only. Definitely Expensive. Fee includes academic fees for both years spread across 2 annual instalments. cost of books and study material, all the expenses for the hostel room and cleaning and toilets usage. Also included expenses for the Mess which served all 3 meals and evening snacks. Yes, the break up of fees is readily available.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship was available for extraordinary scores in the entrance. The scholarship ranges from half years to a years fee waiver. (Though Didn't hear about many such students) Eligibility is as per colleges criteria for scores in the entrance, GDPI, past academic performance and background of the candidate. Loans available from all known banks for IBS Hyderabad campus, some banks don't offer loans for other IBS campuses. Bank has specific counters/kiosk during the admission process. College can also refer to banks.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender Ratio (60Boys:40Girls). Students from different geographical locations of the country. Mostly Upper Middle class and above economic background. Not much of political influence came to our knowledge. Academic pressure is high, relative grading keeps 'conscious' students on toes. Minimum Attendance cannot be ignored. Class participation aka visibility in terms of quality/valuable contribution to case study discussion is an integral component of grading. Assignments and projects are ample to spoil the weekend if not managed well. Time Management is key for performance. They force you into learning the same for good academic performance. Very Strict in terms of discipline. Academic Indiscipline like cheating in the exam may cost you an entire year (yes, there are students repeating year) Students failed too and repeated years. Case to case basis punishment. No PARTIES PER SE. Weekend meals in the Mess are sometimes a pleasant surprise. Usually, they push you to the dhabas located at a walking distance outside the campus. College Bus service on weekends Saturday & Sunday which takes you to Hyderabad city and brings you back to campus by 11:00 pm. Campus Gates closed at 10:00 Pm (for walking In not for weekend bus service) and hostel gates at 11:00-11:30. Opened at 4:00 in the morning. If you are in Hyderabad City and can't make it to College by 10:05 better take accommodation in Hyderabad City. This was frequent during weekends as groups went for Night Outs at service apartments located in the city. BOYS were checked/frisked at the gates when entering the campus, GIRLS were not (girls could sneak stuff in). They also use breath analyzer for alcohol usually during weekends. An Unregistered liquor shop outside campus offers mid-range brands. Usually out of stock. Cigarettes are available easily. Lots of dhabas to ditch the mundane meals at the Mess, not very hygienic though. Alcohol Consumption and Smoking in college is a serious offence. Punishment ranges from fine to a weeks suspension from the hostel for both either gender Girl or Boy. It is a pain as alternate accommodation is some 30-40 km away from college at Hyderabad city. Yes, girls too were suspended for a week when caught drunk. (Poor girl had to commute from a private girls hostel located 30km from campus near Hyd city on a sharing auto or a Roadways buses which aren't too frequent). Personal vehicles not allowed inside college campus but can be parked at a temple nearby on payment basis. Never witnessed any (not more than usual) bias towards a specific gender, race, ethnicity. The college faculty is majorly South Indian, so south Indian students do have an edge in terms of language comfort and interaction with faculty, but nothing excessive. One can have great fun if one knows how to. Of course, one's social group is the key to FUN aspect and to each its own.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes, IBS Hyderabad is a residential campus. Single Occupancy Room well furnished with one two doors wardrobe and a bed and a study table. The room also included a balcony facing the common area. 2 grades hostels, One with Common washrooms (a decent ratio of student per washroom) and another expensive one with attached washroom in a different hostel building. Boys and Girls hostel separate and at an ample walking distance. Each Hostel had a gym for the first year and then they moved the gym into a common gym. Badminton courts in each hostel. Not enough though A private night canteen on pay basis offering sandwich, Maggie, burger, tea coffee.

Alumni/Alumna

Huge alumni base owing to big batch size, Alumni network is OK. The huge number of students so pretty varied in terms of companies, positions, geography. (Though I didn't feel the need to use them personally so far)

Admission

Colleges MBA course is reputed & good. Case study based teaching method is unique, practical and up to date. Gives a practical sense to the concepts while learning. Entrance by Aptitude Test GD & PI. Though they also accept CAT scores. Based on a combination of scores in the entrance test, GDPI and academic scores in graduation and schooling they give a score to a student. Depending on that score they allot campus and course.

Faculty

3.5

Each semester had around 7-8 subjects, depending on the specialisation chosen by the student. Students were a mix of experienced professionals & freshers(skewed towards freshers though) and from different parts of the country. Faculty credentials were PhD Scholars, Seasoned Professionals in the industry, Rich teaching experience and current PHD Scholars doing their PHD from the institute. The case Study method was based on real-life scenarios and events from different industries and gave a sense of relevant and practical application.

To settle in the good financial sector and to improve my skills. The student ratio is less in MBA courses. The faculty is less supportive.
