Review of BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus

Apart from the high cost of education, this is one of the best colleges in India

The course structure is divided into compulsory courses and electives, compulsory being the basic CSE courses like algorithms, data structures, networks and electives were provided are pathways to different domains, such as ML and AI for data science, Image processing for IP enthusiasts, and other humanities such as Bhagawad Gita, ancient history and dynamics of social change

Placements and Internships are a breeze for oir college since BITS has tie-ups with many MNCs and other companies that provide mandatory internships for every student based on their interest after their 2nd and 3rd years. One summer internship for 2 months and one 6month internship. This is a flagship feature for this college since every student has a mandatory internship offer and has enough experience of the real industry and contacts before they start their careers which really helps a lot. Placements vary from discipline to discipline as CSE tends to offer a lot of package. CSE and ECE students get placed fairly quickly and with good packages. Most students, irrespective of discipline, get placed in 6 weeks from the commencement of placements in August. However, the placements keep on happening all year round for students that aren't placed, or aren't happy with their current placement.

This college has 3 main fests, and side fests and events happen all year long. Technical fest ATMOS invites a footfall of around 20000+ since it offers a variety of events for every discipline, with a lot of fun games and food joints around. Pearl is the cultural fest, with every year celebrated in a different there. Most of the events follow this theme and are so much fun to participate are a team. Arena is the sports fest that invites all the local colleges for participation in various sports, each of which has a dedicated ground in the college real estate. Literary events, inter BITS sporting events happen round the calendar. Apart from this, inter hostel competitions, department and club activities keep the event calendar buzzing.

The only downside for this amazing culture is the expensive fees. Being a private University, all the funds to keep up the functioning come from fees. The fees per semester when I graduated was 2 lakhs. And this increases year on year at a maximum of 15%. This tends to be a burden for most of the students

There are 2 scholarships. Merit and merit cum need. Merit is awarded to top 5% students based on cgpa. Merit cum need is the same, except that this has an income limit, below which it is awarded. I got the merit scholarship as I was in the top 5%

Gender ratio is decent, around 4 boys per girl. Campus has all the playgrounds for every sport, clubs and departments for different activities, state of the art library and the biggest auditorium in all of asia. There are even international students that are being accepted for newer batches. And the best part is, there's no reservations in bits, and this ensures that only the top students get into the college

Every student MUST stay in the hostel. There's no day scholar programme in BITS. First year students have 2 sharing rooms, and single rooms from 2nd year onwards. The size of room is generous and is more than sufficient for daily activities. Being a private University, the college spares no expense in maintaining these hostels. Neat hostels, bathrooms cleaned everyday. There's an in time of 2am, after which the doors will be shut.

There's an entire alumni comnect website and details of every alumnus in a seperate alumni portal and any student can contact them for any doubt they have in their respective field. The alumni network is the strongest for any college in India

Wrote Bitsat exam, got 355/450 in the exam. This score allows one to get CSE in either Hyderabad or Goa campuses, and ECE in Pilani. I chose CSE as my interest is in Computers and Hyderabad since I'm originally from Andhra Pradesh. So it's nearer to my home. The next thing is you get an admission letter, that you're selected into the college and that before the joining date, the fee must be deposited in the college account. The receipt has to be shared, along with a mail of acceptance of admission. Then we'll receive a mail of the dates for admission and further steps including how to reach the college, transport modes etc.

The main teaching faculty are highly skilled professionals who have vast research experience and multiple publications in national and international platforms. The same professors offer research projects in the 3rd year, based on either GPA or interested students.
