Remarks
Got decent rank in JEE advance, had chance to chose IIT but much happier chosing IIIT. Better placement scenarios, very easy to cope up with academics, generally student friendly faculty and policies. No politics, ambient surroundings, harsh temperatures, mediocre city infrastructures are major highlights of the college. Certainly not a Karan Johar movie like college nor a 3 idiot setup, but certainly a very chill life with access to anything and everything that you want, be it books or booze, all are available.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is well defined, no Bio or language classes are forced in first year, advance courses like crypto, block chain, AI are part of core courses. The curriculum is mainly placement driven with people interested in research finding their way out. International research interns are easily available along with decent stipends making it a nice and easy escape for research enthusiasts. The current curriculum is based on continuous evaluation and is in general a bit intensive. Apart from it seniors from different batches proficient in competitive coding arrange classes and contests for you on a regular basis throughout first and second year to prepare you for ACM ICPC, FoSS Wing helps in GSoC and such technical councils are active throughout.
Placement Experience
The placement is the Main highlight in the college. Top recruiters like Google, Uber, Microsoft, sprinkler and a lot more companies visit the campus each year. FinCorps, core ECE, IT all kinds of company come in offering fat paychecks. Intern season also sees over 100+ out of 300ish candidates getting hired with >50% PPO conversions. The placement has been consistently hitting 100%.
College Events
Technical Fest- Aparoksha This year 5Lakh cash prizes, with worth being over 50L. Definitely one of the biggest technical fests in this circuit. Main events includes Hackathons, ICPC style coding events, and ECE and robotics events. Cultural nights incl Bollywood night, EDM night Band night and comedy night also held. Cultural fest- Effervescence, huge footfall, balances out the odd gender ratio in college during these days. Band comptetitions, and multiple dance, literary, arts and photography competitions held. Cash Prize money over 2L.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible. Around 75k per semester including hostel and Mess fees. All mode of payments accepted, online registration unlike most NITs and IITs requiring physical registration. Very transparent process. There are no additional charges or hidden charges taken by college. Per semester 1000 rupees given as Gymkhana fees, that is later used in conduction of fest.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college has waived off turion fees for SC ST PWD students. Apart from it there are merit monetary awards in case you top the batch. A scholarship cell is constituted that helps students get scholarship if available through state govt, national govt, or any independent funding agencies.
Campus Life
The campus is a 100 acre lush green area with state of art buildings following a pentagon rose geometry. Centrally air conditioned buildings with new labs and high grade research equipment established. Cloud computing facility also built for high computational requirements. Dedicated personal.computers allotted to each student in a lab for each academic year. Gender ratio is generally low but post gender based reservation, things have started to look better. Cultural and technical societies host a plethora of event each semester from Gymkhana funds. Check the websites for further details.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, it is mandatory to opt for hostels. First and second year have twin sharing hostels with later years being single occupancy. Mess food is edible but more options available after Zomato and Swiggy started delivering. The hostels are much better than you would typically expect from a govt college. Proper cleaning and hygiene maintained.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is being built through properly dedicated alumni cell. Past alumni being tracked and events organized for get together. Senior.junior interaction is very often seen, no ragging cases are seen in general. Seniors are rather very helpful, in some cases, more than faculty. Having an influential senior certainly helps in understanding college faster and better.
Admission
JEE mains is the eligibility criteria for admission into Btech in IT, ECE, or BI (bio informatics). Generally you need to be under 6000 AIR to get into IT. The admission is through JoSAA like any other NITs. Classes generally begin post July. Placement is extremely fine with stats touching 21LPA for the recently concluded session with 100% placement. I was able to get in touch with seniors who had passed from IIITA and whose suggestions helped me land in this college.
Faculty
The faculty is average with some huge exceptions. Prof. G.C. Nandi, Dr. Kala, Prof. O.P. Vyas, Prof US Tiwary et al are some pioneers and are often invited for talks all round the globe. They have high quality research labs and innovation centres are very functional. Though the majority chunk is mediocre but that is the actual case in all colleges. The peer group is certainly going to be your best teacher.
