Remarks

As any student would do, I also used to criticize my college sometimes. But after graduating, I realised that College was only preparing us for all the challenges and competitions of the real world. It was an experience of a lifetime

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am a student of Chartered Accountancy (CA). I always wanted to go to college, so I thought why not get a graduation in the course relating to CA. that's why I chose B. com majoring in Accounting and Finance. The entire course is divided into 6 semesters for 3 years, that is 2 semesters in 1 year. Every semester had atleast 2 practical subjects, atleast 2 theoretical subjects, one elective paper and 1 paper relating to extra curricular activities. For the first 2 semesters we had English and other languages like Hindi or Tamil or Sanskrit or French. I must say most of the subjects whether practical or theoretical were perfectly balanced with other professional courses like CA, CS, CMA, CFA, etc. We had to do 2 months internships, One day business of our, Bazaars, competitions for evaluation of Stock Markets, making budgets. It is a perfectly devised course for the students. It gives exposure in most of the arenas of trade and commerce.

Placement Experience

4.5

M. O. P has a separate placement cell. It provides opportunities to the eligible students to sit for the placements. Many top companies visit for campus recruitments. Some of them are - 1. GOLDMAN SACHS, 2. EY, 3. KPMG, 4. COGNIZANT, 5. RAMCO, 6. KOTAK MAHINDRA, 7. DELOITTE, 8. PWC and many more. I did not sit for campus interview as I was pursuing CA and had to do articleship after completing college.

College Events

5

These events are celebrated by the entire college by all the departments - 1. Fresher's day 2. Abhilasha - cultural activities for first years 3. Jhankar - cultural activities for 2nd and 3rd years, even first years can participate 4. Shringar - event solely dedicated for traditional Indian music and arts 5. Every department holds separately themed events where other departments can participate 6. Intra department events are also held 7. Dandiya evenings for Navaratri, Events are also held for Diwali, Holi, Pongal and other festivals 8. Apart from that many other events are organised to celebrate and commemorate the Indian traditions and festives

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure depends - whether you are morning shift or evening shift. I was in morning shift, the fee was slightly higher than the evening batch. The fee for morning shift ranges between rs. 23000 to rs. 30000, whereas for the evening shift if it is slightly lesser.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is offered by the Madras University to which the college is affiliated. M. O. P Vaishnav is autonomous in raising funds. I was a state rank holder in 12th, so I got a scholarship from Madras University.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is amazing. It is always lively. The college has all the amenities. All the labs, canteens, clubs, everything. Since it is Women's college, there is nothing to talk about gender ratio. The college conducts extra curricular activities on a daily basis. It is open to the entire college and anyone can participate subject to certain criterias.

Alumni/Alumna

I won't say all the seniors are helpful, but there are some who will guide and help you a lot. There are many notable alumni of the college like 1. Sumukhi Suresh 2. Aahana Krishna 3. Rochelle Rao, and to name a few

Admission

M. O. P Vaishnav College is one of the top colleges in Chennai for women. To get into this college, there are certain criterias that is good grades or quota (sports or arts). I got admission because of good grades. First you need to get an application form from the college and fill in all your details along with your marks and chosen department. Then after the careful scrutinization of application form and when it meets all the criterias laid down by the college, they will confirm your admission into the college by sending a text message. Following which you need to refer the official website of the college and submit all the required documents for the admission and also the pay the prescribed fees. The teachers of the respective departments will guide you in the process. The admission process starts as soon as the 12th results are announced, once your application form is approved, the admission process is completed within 2 or 3 days.

Faculty

4

One cannot expect that all the faculties are best. There were one or two, that were good. But others were best. We had guest lecturers from the particular fields to give us insight about the subjects. The teachers come up with different classroom activities to make us understand the concept better, keep periodical tests, quizzes, debates to make us understand the subject better. On the whole, the teachers are really nice.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect will be accounting that made me choose this couse. The curriculum made me to prepare for future accounting field works and knowledge around the field. The improvements that I suggest may is to add more relevent real life job experience in subject books itself. As per me who is one of a topper student in my college, The difficulty is moderate to me and timing of exams are more enough to fill all the questions.

Placement Experience:

In MCC there is placement but it's not 100% placement, only 10 to 20 from a class of 60 gets placed, so when it comes to placement it's upto to you and your skills. Normaly the placement enrollment starts at beginning of your 5th semester or end of your fourth semester, you can opt for placement or higher study. The highest package was from Standard Chartered & Deloitte it was 6 Lakhs CTC. Accenture, TCS and some well known companies will participate in placement drive. The average package will be Rs.3.5 Lakhs CTS. I'm planning to go for higher studies while doing a part time job after getting degree.
