Remarks

The Management of the college is student friendly and helps us whenever we are in need.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

BCOM (hons) is a 3 year course divided into 6 semesters. We have exams every semester. And the subjects have been evenly divided among all semesters each having a practical and a theory touch to it. In total it has 30-35 subjects which gives us a flavour of all different areas. They teach us law which helps us knowing the rights and duties and on the other hand they teach us taxation which makes us know how the economy is working. They teach us human resource management and entrepreneurship which helps us become a better manager of our own selves and how the organisation is controlled. We also have a touch of computer based subjects like eccommerce, tally etc. All these subjects together help us in our making a knowledgeable person which in turn helps us to secure on campus placements.

Placement Experience

4

From the oldest and the best companies to the company which was just incorporated comes for the campus recruitment. We need to create a resume for ourselves and each company chooses the students they recquire according to the qualifications and conduct an interview in the college itself. The Institute itself guides us on how to speak on the questions, how the questions are asked, what answers you can say. Campus recruitments are always a good learning time for us

College Events

4.5

The main event in college is Xavotsav in which students from all around india come to participate. We have events like essay writing, fashion show, sports, drama etc. Also many renowned persons are called in for the evening show in which there is dance, music, food stall etc. There are various societies in college which conduct there annual events like the Xavier's commerce society, management society, economics sociey, placement cell. Each of these have there own events like Insignia, expertise, best manager etc. Every other day some or the other event in going on which makes college fun apart from studies. Also, our college participates in the events of other colleges too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. The college fee is divided into 4 quarters which shows the complete break up of the money taken like tuition fee etc. Additional charges to get addmission into the course is 10000 rupees. They accept online payments only. The also charge extra fee if there is a late payment.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had participated in an event in college organized by the Xavier's commerce society. I had secured the 1st position in it and hence got a scholarship of 10000 rupees. I had to clear 5 rounds in order to enter into the finals. It was an amazing journey and the fruit for it was exciting. This was the first scholarship fee I ever recieved.

Campus Life

3.5

My course which is BCOM ( HONS) is divided into two batches- one morning which is from 6 am to 10 am and the other is in the evening which is from 4 pm to 8 pm. The morning batch is completely boys and evening is coed. All other courses are co-educational and have an equal ratio of girls and boys. We have many extracurricular activities like drama, dance, placement cells, debates societies. And there has never been a deviation in gender all are treated the same.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of the college is extremely helpful. They are ever ready to guide in every area be it with studies or how to excel in extracurricular.

Admission

So the results were supposed to be declared on 14th May 2018. I was waiting for this day unlike others because all my exams went really well. In the morning I woke up so early, I was so excited to see my results. And finally at 3pm we had to put in our registration code etc to check them. I did the whole procedure and finally the results were out, I scored 93.25. Everyone was really happy and proud of me and I started dreaming of my college life. After a few weaks college admissions had started. Since I had taken commerce in my ISC so I either had to go for BCOM or BBA. St. Xavier's College is the best commerce college in kolkata. I had filled up forms for many colleges and went to different interviews. Finally on 17th July I recieved a call from an unknown number saying ' you are admitted to the college and if you want admission come tomorrow with your parents.' The first thought after this was oh it's a prank. But then I checked Google and realised oh. St Xavier's College finally. Next day I went to the college. 5-6 students were there and we had to make a line outside the vice principal's office. As soon as my turn came I went inside with my parents, greeted the teachers. The vice principal asked me what was my goal in future to which I replied ' I want to become an independent women and a source of strength for my parents. ' He congratulated me on getting into Xavier's and my father did the the payment procedure. Finally felt proud of myself because I was a xavierian from that day. I wanted to pursue bcom ( hons) because I wanted to pursue CA. So BCOM + CA makes the best combination. One of the main reasons of choosing Xavier's was that it is the best commerce college in Kolkata. Also it is a hub of societies and activities of which students can be a part of. A place where I could find my own self and grab various opportunities.

Faculty

3.5

We have around 40-50 teachers particularly for the bcom department. Average age is around 35-45. But we do have senior teachers and recently qualified teachers as well. Some are just B-ED or others have completed there doctorate in the subject too. Some are professionally qualified like CA, CS or MBA. Each teacher teaches us from the scratch of the subject which in turn becomes easy to understand. Some make use of powerpoint documents too. Some of them gives us notes and some of the teachers show us videos as well. All in all, the teaching faculty is excellent and they are extremely qualified and certified professors.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
