Remarks

College management is below par and intolerable, they behave like other government employees who would not help you and will not miss an opportunity to aggravate the whole tiring process in any way, everyone just keeps on shifting the situation from one person to another.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The syllabus of Calcutta university in general is quite obsolete and also you hardly get marks there so in terms of professional front I guess all it taught was how to be grounded and not let success get in your head as a university like this can take it all away

Placement Experience

0.5

Not good at all, because our day college had better placements than our college even while our college ranked better than theirs, also because the placement cell wasn't active

College Events

3.5

No technical as well as management events held by our colleg, our college was always a participant in other College fests but our college had an annual cultural event just for our college students as the tickets weren't available for anyone else for others.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our fee was initially 8k yearly but then it grew to 10k, it's not expensive but was the most expensive among other state colleges and also the fees was to be rendered in ques which took hours to submit and was quite cumbersome in general but no there was no extra charge to be paid for admission.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not apply for any scholarship but there was this option for ST&SC students belonging to BPL families to get fee waiver for a substantial amount.

Campus Life

2

Ours was a girl's college and the college was a pretty small government college but compared to other government colleges it was big enough and the best part about the college was the area it was in which was in a posh locality not enjoyed by other colleges, extra curriculars and others were not really good enough as you wouldn't even come to know about it. Our college had a non political student group so politics was not involved at all and economic status of most of the students was below average.

Hostel Facilities

2

There were no hostels so we stayed in a pg which was second from our college and the pg cost for lodging in sharing was 4k monthly but food was not provided to us by the landlady so we had to bear another 2000-3000 for your meals

Alumni/Alumna

There is no alumni network of our college but I remember our college general secretary who helped us out during admission as we had come on the wrong day of admission,a day earlier than our admission day and we had to go back to our hometown on the same day as we had already booked the tickets but she helped us out and got our admission done in the due time.

Admission

I got admission through the 12th standard percentage by applying to the college website and I had chosen this course because I was keen to do CA back then and my parents somehow had this notion that just because alot of people clear CA from Kolkata it would be good for me to study in that college as it was the 2nd best in the university for commerce

Faculty

2

We didn't really have compulsory attendance for students and even the professors taught in a mixture of Bengali and English so it was difficult for us to comprehend and even to decide whether they were knowledgeable enough.Lectures were held everyday on an average of 2-3 per day and the average age of professors was 40.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
