A critical review

College management needs to be more student friendly.

Industrial visit was organized, but it could have been better. Much of the skills obtained was through interaction with peers. Curriculum is outdated, not very research driven. Industry- specific knowledge is only partially imparted. Students need to be proactive in finding internship and research opportunities.

Placement ia average. Mass recruiters such as TCS and Tech Mahindra are regular visitors to the college. Students are assessed based on aptitude, GPA secured and interviews. Around 60 percent are placed on campus. The rest go on for teaching or higher studies. Again, one needs to be proactive in finding an internship, research opportunity or a company of their liking. Overall, placements can definitely be improved.

The college is active culturally. Several fests are held throughout the year. Also, technical and management festivals are held throughout the year. Students participate actively. However, the scale can be improved. And inter-college, inter-university interactions can be better.

The fee structure is affordable and is one of the best points about this institution. That is if one goes through the entrance test and merit route. I wouldn't recommend going through the management route. It isn't worth it. College provides transparency in fee breakdown.

Scholarship opportunities are very few. Dissatisfied in this regard. Eligibility is merit and caste one belongs to.

Gender ratio is impressive. Labs are good and well stocked. Sporting is a tad under done. Robotics is good. Debates are again, under done. Student diversity is good. Student interaction is quite good. Interaction with peers helps a lot. Students are generally very friendly.

No since it is located close to home, I did not have to opt for hostel facilities. Hostel facilities are good. Hostel seats are available and the quality is good. I am unaware of the average rentals but it is affordable.

College seniors are friendly and easy to approach. They are helpful. Alumni network is good and regularly strives for improvement.

This institution is affordable, conveniently located and attracts bright minds. The course is sought after, with good curriculum, and an opportunity to secure a good job. Admission happend thought KCET (during my time, 2010), a common entrance exam. However, I recommend going through the entrance test and merit process itself.

There are around 20 lecturers per department, of an average age of 35 to 40. Most of them hold PhD. Their expertise is good. Some of them have been in the industry, so they come with a rich experience of how the industry functions. They are always approachable with a student-friendly attitude.
