Remarks

All in all, Loyola College has got a good name outside and people look up to you on knowing that one is from Loyola College. But sadly that is the only good thing about the college. The college places very little or no emphasis on the overall development of students. The faculty is extremely mediocre having very less subject knowledge. The curriculum has not been updates in ages. But it is the best in Chennai and enjoys a good reputation throughout the country.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Loyola College has to adhere to Madras University Guidelines as it is affiliated to it and therefore can not come up with its own course curriculum. In saying that, the Course Curriculum seems pretty ancient and has not been updated to suit current times. The role of technology is completely ignored and not taught; Eg: Tally for Accounts students, Digital Marketing for Marketing students.

Placement Experience

2

I did not sit for any of the placements, as I was a Marketing student andvery few companies were recruiting in the field of Marketing. However most of the big companies come for placements for Finance- related roles. Students with sitting arrears can not sit for placements. Companies follow the usual process- Written Tests- GD - PI -HR. The college took no steps to equip the students for the same.

College Events

1.5

Quiet a few festivals are organised round the year. Departments hold their own inter college festivals and also sends students for the same, even to other cities. The intra department festival is the biggest of them all with great participation and people look forward to it.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure according to me was feasible- not expensive, not very cheap. The college has two shifts- one morning and the other eveneing. The morning shift is exceedingly affordable for studnets who perhaps can not otherwise afford to pursue UG

Fees and Financial Aid

Not applicable. Did not opt for any scholarship or education loadn and therefore can not comment on it

Campus Life

2.5

Loyola College is humongous spreading over 95 acres in the heart of the city. Each department has its own dedicated building. Each game has its own ground, namely; Tennis, Volleyball, Football, Cricket, Basketball. It recently opened a completely revamped canteen with different stalls. There are also Xerox shops, Library, Printing shops and food stalls in the campus.Loyola College is an all boys college barring a few courses, so there is no question of gender ratio.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni network but I am not sure how good the platform is. The college did not explain in detail about it, its functioning or how one make use of it.

Admission

The admission process entails going to the college to take the admission forms of the courses one wishes to apply for. Then the filled-admission forms are required to be submitted before end of May. The college then rolls out lists of candidates who get selected with the interview dates which is a mere formality.I opted for the course and the college simply because it is the best in Chennai and in fact ranks second pan India. Loyola College has holds a certain prestige and has been able to build a name for itself and that was the primary reason as to why I opted for this college.

Faculty

1

Most of the lecturers aged 40+, Each semester had 6 subjects which invariably meant 6 lecturers. However one could have the same lecturer for different subjects in different semesters. Most of the professors had completed their masters and while some have done PhD. I expected more from the faculty given the fact that Loyola College rank second for Bcom in the country. The professors are mediocre having very little subject knowledge, not being able communicate in English which is supposed to be the medium of instruction. Marks are not given based on the content but the length of the answer. Professors sadly place more importance on attendance than knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect will be accounting that made me choose this couse. The curriculum made me to prepare for future accounting field works and knowledge around the field. The improvements that I suggest may is to add more relevent real life job experience in subject books itself. As per me who is one of a topper student in my college, The difficulty is moderate to me and timing of exams are more enough to fill all the questions.

Placement Experience:

In MCC there is placement but it's not 100% placement, only 10 to 20 from a class of 60 gets placed, so when it comes to placement it's upto to you and your skills. Normaly the placement enrollment starts at beginning of your 5th semester or end of your fourth semester, you can opt for placement or higher study. The highest package was from Standard Chartered & Deloitte it was 6 Lakhs CTC. Accenture, TCS and some well known companies will participate in placement drive. The average package will be Rs.3.5 Lakhs CTS. I'm planning to go for higher studies while doing a part time job after getting degree.
