Remarks

One one side where we can praise the Central University of Kashmir for trying its best to provide with quality education to its students but at the same end we can also raise finger at this institution for exploiting the students for enjoying a fine infrastructure.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Like all other Central universities, the Central University of Kashmir also aims to provide better curriculum to the students.Course curriculum is good but not upto the mark. Being a one among the latest established universities, it doesn't have the qualities that should be provided to the students. We Don't have anything like on campus placement there.

Placement Experience

1.5

I don't personally know the if any placementt drives take place because our department has not hosted any auch thing. But my friend from law department told me that last year in 2019 there was some placement drive. About the internship i guess university is not prepared with any auch thing due to the infrastructural shortfall.

College Events

2.5

Our institution celebrates a number of events which includes cultural events, social awareness event and sports events are also hold by our institution. These events are held to raise the awareness about some particular thing in the society or to get the students encourage and give them a platform to show their talent in sporting, debating, etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the university is quite affordable. I pay Rs 6200 per semester as Semester Admission Fee. We are providing with the offline as well as the online mode of fee payment. But in the year 2019 due to the internet suspension in the valley students mostly had to go away with the offline mode.

Fees and Financial Aid

No the central university of Kashmir doesn't offer any scholarship to the students and so i haven't opted for any of it.

Campus Life

1.5

The campus life is not as good as it should have been. As the university was being run from rented accommodations at Sonwar and Nowgam. The university just shifted from its rented campus to its original campus but there we infrastructural development. Talking of the gender ratio it would be 48 girls per 100 boys. Students also enjoy some events like sports events, debates and also some cultural events are also held. In the end we cannot say that the quality standards are maintained.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No i haven't applied for any hostel facility. There is a severe shortage of the hostel rooms. Students living at far away locations cannot avail yhe hostel facility not to talk of mine who lives just 30 km away from the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes i have talked to some of the ex students of the Central University of Kashmir and they were very helpful but unfortunately i couldn't talk to any alumni of the physics department as we are yet to have a first pass out batch because the physics programme was recently included.

Admission

The university conducts the entrance examination every year in the month of March or April. The qualifying students go through the counselling and then are admitted by the university in the month of June or July. So i also appeared in the entrance examination of the university passed it and got the admission in this institution

Faculty

3

As per the UGC norms, there should be at least 45 lectures delivered in the single course in a given semester. But due to the prevailing situation in the Kashmir we couldn't make it to 45 so usually it falls short to 45. The lectures are good enough to get us know about the subject matter very well.

I have interest in physics so I choose bsc in physics as major subject.. As mathematics is quite related with physics so I choose it as a minor subject.. There are two phases of exams and in these phases there is a lot of time to prepare for the exams.. However teachers method of teaching was quite friendly and soft spoken ..

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.

Remarks:

A Good College Even though the college life seems like a fairy-tale to you, it is not. There are so many things that you have to be careful about when you are visiting a college and checking out its ambience. Don’t get influenced by the clean campuses that most of the colleges have; they purposely do it so that people like you get attracted to their appearance and join their team. If you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on the fees of the wrong college which spoils your fairy-tale dream, you might want to take admission in a college that’s good enough for students like you.
