A review of GCC

The college management is good overall. The faculty is really talented. There are some issues with the college but it will overcome over time. The college is one of the best in the region and holds very good academics of its students each year.

The colleges exams weren't based on any research at all. It was like normal examinations. We were taken to a nearby place for an environment project only because they were asked to take the students. Only the last semester exam was based on research where hardly one or two students actually did research and the rest just used internet.

Our college doesn't get much campus placement offers. The college doesn't prepare its students for any placement, though it provides useful tips and sometimes the faculty members provide job vacancies info for the students and help them get jobs.

The college hosts its establishment day, saraswati puja festival, independence day, the freshers party etc. It's kind of big comparing to that of other colleges in my region. The college celebrated its golden jubilee with thousands of its students and alumnis by huge road rallies and processions. The Saraswati puja held in the college is pretty big, students form all over the region visit there.

The college has transparent fee breakdown. The fee is kind of feasible as compared to other colleges as it is a govt. College and the only mode of payment is cash. There isn't any additional fee to secure an admission. The college takes examination fee, tutuon fee, electricity fee, prospectus fee, uniform and emblem fee etc. And the only provides cash as a mode of payment and the students have to stand in a line to pay the fee which takes upto 6 to 7 hours maximum.

There wasn't any scholarship I guess. But the govt. Introduced with a free admission scheme for which you had to show your father or mothers income proof and a picture of you planting a tree or plant.

Our college campus had a large playground. The annual sports week used to be unbiased and properly managed. We used to have many essay writing competitions, debate competitions etc. The gender ratio might have been 55% boys and 45% girls. I don't remember the exact details.

None. I didn't have much interaction with the seniors. I am an introvert so I don't usually interact that much but it's true that the college has a reputation of bad alumni behaviour. But there are good seniors who always help the juniors with their studies and all.

I purchased the form and prospectus of this college and submitted it before due date and at the date of admission the name of the students were being called merit wise, thus I got admission into this college. The reason I opted for commerce is because I want be a chartered accountant. The main reason for me to choose this college is the faculty and reputation of this college and also the fact that my brother and father were from this college.

Honestly speaking there were very good professors. They might still be there if not retired. The college has it's reputation only because of the good faculty. Most of the senior professors were about the age of 45 to 55 and mostly had MBA, PhD etc. The college also provides digital classes for upper classes like MBA. The faculty always helps the students with their problems and also offers extra classes for the top students.
