A brief review of Ravenshaw College

The management is slow and late to respond to student grievances. one has to go with their issue a lot of times repeatedly to get their work done and also needs to stand in the queue for long for informing the management about their issues.

This college is more of inclined towards pure academics and there isn't any industrial visits as such during your graduation years, atleast there wasn't any during my time. But yes for post graduation there are industrial visits and live projects and a lot research activities.During the graduation years the primary focus of the institution is towards making the fundamentals of finance and accounting, economics,etc strong through theory and classroom teaching. but no practical thing was done during graduation years.

There are no internships provided by the college but the students can find internships and do it for their experience. companies like TCS, Mahindra, Wipro, Capgemini etc come to the campus for placements. Almost everybody who applies gets placed but since most of the students want to pursue higher studies after graduation so they don't sit for campus placement. students don't sit for campus placements also because they don't get a good package.

annual fest, annual athelet's meet,various cultural competitions.And other research paper discussion meet. Model United nations and other debate competitions are also held every year. The fests is Ravenshaw are very happening and youth from all other colleges of Odisha participates and visits events of Ravenshaw. National level DJ's, singers and performers perform at the events.

This college has very minimal fees. The college has discounted and reserved seats for under priviledged students, special students and there are scholarship seats for good performers. Students who get s scholarship seat for them the fee is 1500 rupees only per year and for rest of the students it is 10,000-15000 rupees per year depending on the course.

Yes, there are scholarships. 100percent scholarship seats also available. To avail scholarship a student must have scored really well in their 12th boards. The scores eligible for scholarship keeps changing every year. I did not have to take loans.

the gender ratio is approximately 4:6, The campus life is amazing. The labs, theatres, hall, amphitheatre, library is beautiful.and has all amenities required for the students. There is ample scope for sports. It has tennis courts, bastket ball courts, badminton court, cricket field and football court. There are coaches to train the students in their interest of sports and all the equipments and a gym also for students.

No, I didn't opt for colleges. However, the hostel fee is very minimal and seats are also few. Students from different cities and states use hostels which cost very minimal and the bookings need to be done in advance, apart from hostels there are plenty of PG's available close -by at a very less cost.

yes, the alumni is very strong and are really helpful. In case any student contacts the alumni and seniors always are very helpful and guide the students very well.

I joined Ravenshaw for my bcom after my 12th. It is the most reputed college in Odisha and even students from West Bengal, Assam, Bihar aspire to study in this college. Once the application forms are out, it is uploaded on the official website of Ravenshaw college, I filled up the form and since I had good score in 12th boards my name was out when the merit list was released and you even get mails if you are selected.

Each and every faculty in the college is a PhD holder, that is the basic requirement. The total number of faculty in the college is around 70 to 80 and the average age of the faculty members is around 48 to 55. As most the faculty members are old, their teaching methods are also old. They are full of knowledge and know their subjects very well but are not as much as a professor in a College asa reputed as Ravenshaw should be.
