Remarks

BHU is one the top universities in India and the world and its education and hoslistic atmosphere truely stands a testament to the fact.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The BSc. curriculum gives equal weightage to all subject for the first two years and then, one has to study only the honours subject. Equal study hours are dedicated to practical and theory lessons. The teaching is application oriented, with a focus on understanding and visualizing the fundamentals of the subject. The teachers utilise a holistic approach to understanding a subject and are extremely helpful in clarifying ant doubts. BHU has a very good past record, having provided serveral eminent scientists over the years.

Placement Experience

4.5

BHU is one of the best reputed insititutions in India and has a very good past record. Various famous scientists, leaders, politicians, musians, poets, writers have studied in the campus. Presently, BHU is a pioneer in research, especially in biological sciences, and usually all BSc. Students are accepted in various reputed institutions worldwide. Also, most masters students go on to do a PhD. Besides the academic stream, various notable institutions and government agencies provide jobs such as the Zoological Society of India, Botanical Society of India, ISRO, DRDO, SERB, DST, etc. Also, on demand internships and volunter in research project under various teachers.

College Events

3.5

BHU has various faculty wise annual fests such as Kashiyatra by the IIT BHU, Aakansha by the Institute of Science, Elixer by the medical faculty, etc. Usually the winners from these festivals stand a chance to participate in a intra-university annual fest called Spandan. BHU, having one the highest number of students living on campus, usually host a huge festival and also annual celebrations on the foundation day are made on a large scale.

Fee Structure And Facilities

My program fee consists of Rs3500, including hostel rent, for odd semesters and Rs. 1500 for even semesters. Usually a caution money of Rs 2000 needs to submitted at the time of admission, which would be returned upon exit from the course. Also, a caution money of Rs. 1800 needs to be deposited at the hostel, which would be returned after the end of the year. BHU usually has two routes of entry, one is by general fee and other by paid seat, where the applicant must pay an extra amount to secure the seat, but all is done on the basis of the merit list.

Fees and Financial Aid

BHU offers various scholarship opportunities the financially incapable and they can be availed very easily.

Campus Life

3.5

BHU has one of the largest campus in Asia, and there is very good natural flora and fauna present on the campus. Huge fields are present adjoining most hostels, and there are free gyms and swimming classes for interested students. A national sports complex is present inside the campus. Various cultural programmes, seminars and workshops are frequently held. Several non politicals clubs and institutions are present, such as the NSS, NCC. Usually each faculty has its own set of extra co-curricular clubs for debating quizzing, singing, dancing, etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are present inside the BHU campus, and each faculty has its own campus. I am presently residing at the Broacha Hostel, one of the largest hostels in India. Each hostel has its own mess, where food is available at a nominal cost. Then hostel rent is very affordable, at Rs 75 only. All facilities, including indoor games facilities, gym, wifi, etc are available. But admission to hostels are limited and are purely on merit basis.

Alumni/Alumna

BHU is one of the best reputed insititutions in India and has a very good past record. Various famous scientists, leaders, politicians, musians, poets, writers have studied in the campus. Some notable names include Dr. Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, Dr. C. N. R Rao, poet Harivansh Rai Bachhann, etc. The seniors are extremely helpful in all ways and with a worldwide alumni network, it is always easy to contact a senior in anywhere in the world.

Admission

Banaras Hindu University ranks among the top 3 universities in India, and their Science faculty, especially the life science departments, is extremely good, thus prompting me to take up this course. The admission to any course in BHU is done on the basis of a nation wide entrance exam. However, it is required to have atleast a minimun of 50% marks in your board exams. Exams are held usually from April to May and the results take about a month to be declared. The syllabus for each exam usually corresponds to the subjects one would be taking up during that course.

Faculty

4.5

The teachers are extremely well versed in their subjects, with almost all of them being one of the topmost minds in their respective fields. Lab visits, volunteer research and internships are always available and every one strives to provide better education and learning to the students. The labs are very well equipped and all practicals are mentored individually. Also, there are innumerable seminars and symnposiums conducted by various departments and thus, BHU truely lives up to be one of the one in the nation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

According to me you should choose Brahmanand College but as I wanted more practicals then theory work but it is not like that here because you get more time to study and practicals were less .Exams' timings were sometimes morning, afternoon so you will have to manage yourself accordingly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'd rate the curriculum 4/5. Topics like programing and data structures are super relevant.it prepares us for tech roles, but could include more hands on projects and industry tools. More focus on emerging tech like Ai /ML would be awesome. Exams are semester wise and okay.areas for improvement: internships, coding challenges, and guest lectures from pros. Solid foundation overall !

Course Curriculum Overview:

As the faculty teachers and all the staff was very good and the faculty teachers of the science were very fabulous in education causes me to choose this course... The curriculum here was in terms of social interaction was ok but it was not that good for the future real world academic pursuits as their were not that much activities for the social appearance... In terms of course curriculum and teaching method this college doesn't need much improvements because it is much better according to teaching method , as the teachers were good in terms of teaching... The timing and frequency was having much gap between one semester exam and the other semester exam , so there were not much difficulty in giving exams according to my perspective...
