Remarks
In Kerala, there are basically 2 colleges which stand is highly competitive. Rajagiri and SCMS. I choose SCMS because of its quality education, exposure, and placement, etc. The admission procedure us like first we have to apply through the website. The application fee is 2000rs (2018). Later on, we will get call for interview and group discussion. GD and PI happened on the same day. Later on, after a week result was announced. The positive things : Out bond training- u will be taken for a 3 days program in suryanelli which is a very fun oriented managerial skill learning program IMLP/AMLP- this is one of the best thing in the college. After 2 year all your stage fear will disappear and you will become an amazing stage presenter. Too many exposure to business meets and other managerial fests
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose an MBA over PGDM because MBA is authorized by MG University. For MBA and PGDM, there is two sets of different faculty. Most of MBA teachers are PHD holders and with industrial experience. Total of 120 seats. They will be divided into two classes.. with 60 60 each. The medium of teaching is English only. And they use PowerPoint presentations to teach. We had back to back exams and presentation. In a way, it is good because we learn things and don't pile it up for final examination . The semester exams are decided by mg university.
Internships Opportunities
As per mg university, you have to do a one-month organization study and a two-month project. OS happens in the second sem and project in the final sem. The college will not assist to find companies. We have to arrange it ourselves. Other than this college offered various internship opportunities. Colgate came twice .both in the first year and second year. SBI came for an internship
Placement Experience
The college has a very good placement cell and placement percentage also. From the third-semester companies start coming for placement. Out of 120 students almost 70+ is placed. Others are entrepreneurs. The average package is 6 lakh per annum. The top companies came this year (2020) include federal bank, ICICI Bank, Asian paints, cafe coffee day, Deloitte , ESAF, KPMG, TCS, Malayala Manorama and many more
Fees and Financial Aid
As far as I know, there is no scholarship for MBA students. But for PGDM there is a scholarship like some discount in fees for those who have work experience of more than 3 years. The fees are paid semester wise! Total of 4 semesters. The fee is 7 lakh for the entire course. Other than this u have to pay the exam fee separately. The hostel fee is yearly which is around 30 thousand per year and the mess fee is separate which you have to pay monthly. Per month it will be around 5000 for mess alone. No other fees are taken.
Campus Life
The college host many inter and intra fests. The inter-college fest is Tarang. Which is a cultural fest between all the courses of the college? It hosts the international manager fest Shikhar wherein any BCom or MBA/ PGDM students can participate from any college. Ut also has an inter sports meet. Which happens between various SCMS campuses. The campus has two libraries and there are sample books available. The campus also has a gym and qualified gym trainer. All classrooms are air-conditioned with projectors
Hostel Facilities
The girl's hostel is inside the campus area only and the boy's hostel is 3 km away. The girl's hostel is very neat and spacious. In a room, there are 4 students and one attached bathroom. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious. Thrice in a week, they will clean both bathrooms and room so it is always neat. There are water filters and hot water facilities 24x7. You can opt for A/C or non-A/C rooms also. The mess is the common college mess. It serves very delicious food and a variety of foods. They keep changing the menu every 3 months and takes our suggestion also. Morning it will be idli, puttu, idiyappom, appam, etc Noon - meals with chicken fry, curry, fish fry, fish curry, egg omelet, etc. You can get other things also but have to pay extra Night - chicken biriyani, Friedrice, and gopi or chili chicken, chappathi, etc
Interview Experience
Your admission depends upon Performance in GD and PI. and most importantly you must clear any if the MBA entrance exam. I wrote KMAT. Without cutoff or above cutoff you will not be qualified. First, it is GD with a group of 10 students and 2 teachers. The topic can be general or current issues. For example, will machines take over the employment of humans, is monetization good or bad, etc ... After the PI happens with two lecturers. The question you regarding anything and everything.. it can be GK, your academics, or subject related things. Confidence is what matters
