Remarks
College is great for students seeking to pursue MBA course in an environment where learning happens more outside the class than inside the class. The students are very matured as they are not fresh out of the college and join college with minimum experience of 2 years. These diversity adds on to value of the course because one gets to hear and learn experiences from various industries.
Entrance Preview
I wrote CAT exam to get in to the college. I score 98% percentile and opted for this college because it was offering me 1 year MBA from a reputed college.
Course Curriculum Overview
College curriculum was very rigorous and exhaustive with equal focus on theory and practical application of the concepts. Even though it was one year course it subject coverage of the curriculum was equal or greater than the two years curriculum. We had labs for trade and finance, marketing management and operations management where we can simulate and apply the concepts learned.
Internships Opportunities
There is no mandatory requirement for internship as this is one year course. But college encourages students to take up consulting assignments during the tenure of the course. Even though it gets hectic but it helps during the placement season.Because of college's reputation many companies seek help from students in terms of planning, strategy, operations etc.
Placement Experience
Placement and job opportunities are great. We enjoy placement selection from leading consulting, IT, eCommerce, Financial, Operations & Retail firms. Most of the companies look forward to visiting our campus as they know that all students have minimum of 2 years experience as that is the minimum mandatory requirement to get the admission in to the program.
College Events
Starting from national festival we celebrate all the regional festival. We also have ice breaking even when we join the college, fare well celebration for the seniors, inter-school business cultural fest and entrepreneurial events. Our flagship inter-school business cultural fest is one of the biggest b-school fest that takes place in southern India and get funding from various companies.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Considering that we paid all inclusive 13 Lakhs for this one year course, I will rate it as feasible and a great investment in one's future. This fee included books, hostel charges, library charges, mess charges, tuition fees and transportation fees. This also includes blazer cost.
Fees and Financial Aid
College does not provide scholarship but facilitates loan process. College has tie ups with all the leading banks which makes the entire loan processing process a cake walk for the prospective students.
Alumni/Alumna
Our alumni network is very strong and our senior students are very helpful. We get most of our internship opportunities through our alumni network. During the tenure of the course I got to meet senior student during the guest lectures which were conducted by the college. They came from various industries and shared their experiences both as a student at Greatlakes and as a corporate employee. This helped me to better understand the life post college and the expectation from various roles offered by companies.
Exam Structure
In one year we have 7 terms and except for 7th term all the other terms have mandatory end term exams for every subject which is being taught in that term. Besides end term we have mid term or quizes depending on the discretion of the professor taking that subject. In addition to exams we get regular project work and presentations which give us an opportunity to apply the management concepts to practical scenarios. This provides a great learning platform for students.
Faculty
College faculty is very excellent. Most of the faculty members have PhDs and have teaching experience of more than 10 years. Another great aspect of this college is that most of the faculty members are coming from abroad and have good reputation in their respective fields. We had visiting professors from reputed Indian business schools such as XLRI, IIM K FMS etc.
