Remarks
Graduate School of Pharmacy (GSP) is a government college having well-experienced eminent professors who provide quality education with an industrial base. There are expert guest lectures frequently organized for students. It has excellent infrastructure, all basic amenities, seminar hall, air-conditioned classes with an excellent digital projector system. It also has Labs with proper Internet Connectivity and computers. There is a physical Library with a number of Books, Articles, Journals and access to e-library as well. The Admission is done through the ACPC process from the month of August up to September. I prefer this college since it is one of the only premier Pharmacy Institutes in Gujarat, providing M.Pharm specialization in core (pure) Regulatory Affairs course. At GSP, the Projects are proposed at the Industrial level and there are placements/internships allocated at famous Pharmaceutical Industries. I surfed the official website of GTU while selecting this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs because Masters in this specialization is in good demand and there is a vast scope for good job opportunities in both private and government firms. There are 5 Faculty members for a class of 18-20 Students. Each faculty has teaching experience of more than 2-3 years. The professors at the Institute teach using LED Projectors (for presentations) to make the teaching sessions interesting and interactive. All faculties provide adequate information on the latest trends in Pharma Industries and also give a thorough knowledge of the emerging Pharma Market and the updated rules and regulations. Timely Assignments and Practicals are conducted to enhance the technical and practical skills. Per Semester, 2 Internal Exams are conducted, 1st after 45 Days from the beginning of the Session and 2nd after 30 days of the 1st Internal. External Exams are held after 5 months from the beginning of Semester.
Placement Experience
For being eligible for Campus Placements, a Student must be in Semester - 4 of M.Pharm. The students of Academic Year 2018-19 have been recruited by renowned Pharmaceutical Companies like Intas Biopharmaceuticals - Ahmedabad, Sun Pharmaceuticals - Vadodara, Finecure Pharmaceuticals Ltd. - Ahmedabad, West Coast Pharma Ahmedabad, etc with a good package. Students of Academic Year 2019-20 have been placed at Companies like Baroque Pharma - Ahmedabad and Saviour Pharma - Ahmedabad. Around 50-60% of students from a batch are placed in various departments of Pharmaceutical Companies. My plan after getting the degree is to apply for a Job in RA (Regulatory Affairs) of a popular Pharmacy Company and then working over there as a Trainee and then after as an Executive for several years and then working as an Assistant Professor in a Pharmacy Institution.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual fees for M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs are Rs. 25,000/- per year. It is to be paid per Semester, i.e. Rs. 12,500/- per semester. The Exam Form Fee per Semester is of Rs. 1000/- which is to be paid a week before the seasonal (external) examinations begin. There are very less or almost nill chances for the Fees to be hiked, as the Fees Structure is fixed by the Institute and it is approved by Bodies like AICTE and PCI (Pharmacy Council of India). There are Scholarships for Reserved (OBC / SC / SEBC / ST) Category Students and there are a good amount of Industrial Placements done for Project Completion / Internship as well as for Job.
Campus Life
The Gujarat Technological University conducts Techfest in which the Institute's Students participate as a part of their co-curriculum. The GTU Techfest is generally held in the month of January or February. Various Technical and Sports events are organized in the fest. Graduate School of Pharmacy has a facility of Physical Library as well as e-Library with a lot of renowned author's Books for academic syllabus, Books on International Regulatory Framework, relevant Journals, Magazines and Articles. The Classrooms are well-equipped with LED-Projector, White Board, Air-Conditioners, Lights, Fans, Furniture Desks and comfortable sofa chairs. The Institute has a very good facility for indoor games like Carom and Chess and it also has adequate Lawn Gardens and free space for outdoor games like Badminton and Cricket. All the basic required items for Sports are available at the college. The College also organizes competitions like Speech, Essay Writing, Poster-making, etc.
