Experiences in a MBA College

College management is quite sensible if you as me. But regarding academics, professors are quite strict. You should not cross them in the wrong way as far as studies go. Apart from that, they are quite supportive in other activities as well as during any crisis situations.

CATI opted for this exam since it is the gateway for the top B-Schools in India. I wanted to pursue management from one of the top institutes in India, and chose SJMSOM. I had final converts from all 6 new IIMs as well as from MDI.

The course was divided into compulsory courses and electives. Electives were available in all the major sections, such as Finance, Marketing, Operations, Information Management, General Management etc. We also had a 8 month long project in our 2nd year which we had to do in correspondence with some industry giants.

I completed my Summer Internship at Asian Paints. Mine was in the field of Information Management and Analytics. Other students bagged internships in Finance, Marketing, SCM and various other roles. Stipends ranged from 20,000 to 1.5 L in our batch.

Placements happens during the mid 2nd year. Students bagged their final placements in Finance, Marketing, SCM, IM, General Management, Leadership and various other roles. Offers ranged from 8 L - 25 L.

Avenues is the Business fest celebrated in October. You can also be a part of MOOD I which is the IIT B cultural festival. That is quite a big celebration if you ask me. Apart from that, you can take part in the tech fests at IIT as well if you are inclined in that way. Apart from fest, you would have guest lectures almost every week. In fact, the list of events would be too long to discuss here. You can keep yourself busy throughout your college tenure.

Fees is 9L. Quite feasible compared to the other top B-Schools. And it is one of the best in terms of ROI among Indian B-Schools. Although, among the IIT B-Schools, it is the highest, yet, it is worth spending if you as me.

Loan facility is available from SBI and UBI.I did not avail any loan facility, but majority of the students do.Scholarships are available. Top 20 students of each semester get scholarships, varying from 500-2000 a month.

Extracurricular activities are awesome in IIT B. You have the best sports facilities, be it swimming pool, badminton court, tennis courst, TT tables you name it, and it is there. There are numerous student societies as well, based on your interests and you can join them as and when you please.

Hostel facilities are quite good. You would be getting a twin sharing room in your 1st year. In 2nd year, you can have individual rooms. I think girls get single rooms now even in the 1st year with the new hostels coming up. You would have high speed Internet connection in your room 24x7. Regular cleaning as well. Hostels are in good shape and maintenance happens regularly. Hostel food might not be out of the world, but its decent compared to other colleges.

Alumni network would be one of the best in India. Regular alum meetings happens in Mumbai as well as in the rest of India. Being in touch with the Alum network is what makes this institute what it is today.

Exams were there as mid terms and end terms. Apart from that, surprise quizzes were a art of the course. You always have to be on your toes to perform well.

Faculty was quite well equipped with the latest knowledge and industry exposure. The faculty of Supply Chain and Finance were typically quite good as per as my experience.
