Remarks
SGSITS is one of the most renowned colleges of Madhya Pradesh and also it's in the list of top 200 engineering government colleges. My admission date was 23 July 2016 and my college started on 25 July 2016. The admission procedure was easy and friendly. We have to stand in a queue with all our details. SGSITS is Madhya Pradesh's best institutions and being an autonomous college it provides students with a lot of educational and recreational aspects. I came to know about this college from people, seniors, and friends.
Course Curriculum Overview
I pursued mechanical engineering since the first year of my college. Although I am a girl I always have an interest in mechanical engineering and automobiles. Teachers and professors have always supported me. In fact, they have never shown any discrimination between us. The student-teacher ratio for mechanical engineering is 1:6 approximately.60% of the teachers in mechanical are Ph.D. from the top Indian institute of technology. A few others are still pursuing Ph.D. courses from respective colleges. The teaching approach is favorable. We are given practical classes in most of our subjects. Our end semester exams are generally conducted in November December and April may. This gives us an opportunity to do timely internships.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible from the third year. Several companies like Asian paints, Accenture, Deloitte, adverb, principal, etc come for placements. The highest package for my batch is of 21 LPA. Almost 75% students get placements. I didn't sit for placements. I am preparing for civil services and defense exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
In first year when I entered college in 2016 it was 25000/- per semester. But in third year there was a fee hike. There were protests but no one listened to students. It was later 35000/- per semester. We were made to pay extra 20000/- for the first year. Scholarships are given on merit basis only to mechanical and electrical engineering students. It is matlani scholarship. It amounts to 25000/- per year starting from second year. Reserved Category students are also given scholarships. I didn't sit for campus placement hence I didn't get job from campus placements.
Campus Life
Campus life is good in SGSITS. Annual tests are conducted in the winter session in march. It is Aayam. It is a cultural fest. The library is one of the biggest libraries in the state. 80% of the time books of engineering and MBA are available in the library. Classrooms have whiteboards and projectors. The majority of sports are played and their courts are also there. Badminton court, TT tables, carton boards, basketball court, volleyball court, football, netball, cricket ground, etc are available. Social clubs are well functional like trivim, code foster, ojaswa, kshitij, pratibimb etc. Websites and Instagram pages of these respective clubs are run by club members.
Hostel Facilities
I have lived in Devi Ahilya Girls Hostel. It is more furnished than other hostels. The rooms are shared by three people. Separate beds, tables, chairs, and cupboards are provided. Rooms are well furnished with electricity connections, fans, tube lights, windows. Washrooms are common for each floor. They have geysers for hot water. The mess is not so bad. Each day there is different food. After college admissions, we have to fill forms for hostel accommodation. Merit students are always preferred for hostel.
