Remarks

The Nagaland University is having its headquarters at Lomami and 3 more campuses at Kohima, Dimapur and Medziphema. Their main aim is to provide technical learning and make students ready to face the social life challenges. They serve the student community without any differences towards us.

Course Curriculum Overview

We have 4 semesters for two years of study. In the first year, we learn about the basically fundamental concepts of physical & social anthropology, kinship along with human origin. In the second year, we learn the theories, demographic anthropology and human population genetics. We have choice based paper system in final semester. We also have practical papers for each semester. The passion for learning anthropology, makes us feel so comfortable over here.

Placement Experience

4

We have a training and placement cell. The university prepares us to face any kind of career that we wish for. The learning we get there, assures for a safer future. We can choose either for going job or pursuing higher studies or preparing for competitive exams.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the first semester, the fees for science streams is around ?.6,500 whereas for the subsequent semesters it will be around ?.4,000. This amount of fees is much lesser than any other private colleges. Also we get a quality education from this university.

Fees and Financial Aid

The university helps the students by supporting theri education with scholarships. The university follows the Central Sector Scheme for Scholarship. We have a regular updating regarding the scholarships for various student communities. The aid of this money is purely based on UGC's guidelines.

Campus Life

We have various clubs and cells for the active participation of the students in social activities. We have NSS cell, sports club, gymnasium, health care club, cell to eliminate sexual harassment, equal opportunity cell, SC/ST cell, anti-ragging cell, grievance redressal cell, NET coaching, gender champion and many more.

Hostel Facilities

There are 4 hostels for boys and 5 hostels for girls. In both the case, except 1 hostel campus, all other blocks are for PG students. For hostel accommodation you need to apply separately. The fees will be around ?.4,300 at the time of admission and ?.2,500 for subsequent years. The caution deposit ?.1,580 will be refunded at the time of vacating the room.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an alumni association. To register in this, we need to fill the online application form. The passed out students helps us to know the current status of job opportunities in their specific departments. They entertain us by sharing their golden memories in this campus. The binding is so special and we all feel like a family when we are together.

Admission

I applied for M.Sc., Anthropology through their online application portal http://admission.nagalanduniversity.ac.in . You have to upload the required documents and pay the application fee ?.200/-. The eligibility for PG programs is that 50% in major papers in UG. Since I did my UG in one the colleges affiliated to Nagaland University, I got an additional weightage of 6% as bonus marks in my total percentage. This will pull you on top of the ranking list. Thus I got admitted into this course on the headquarters Lumami campus.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties of our department are highly qualified and experienced in handling anthropology. Our Tiasunep sir is specialized in prehistoric archeology and evolutionary biology, Maibam Radharani Devi mam is specialized in social anthropology, Neikethono Vakha mam is specialized in physical anthropology. Our guest faculty Mhonyani mam teaches us social-cultural anthropology.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Ever since I was a kid I was always interested in studying history. Infact it was my favourite thing to study. I took up this course because It's fun to study history. As an aspirant taking up history helps me to be more aware of the dates and names for the competitive exams. I think there are no improvements or changes to be made in this course as the lectures teaches so well. If you are taking history as your honors then I suggest you to study everyday and not wait for the last moment as this course is very vast and not easy for one night preparation
