The management had ensured that they provide the best professors as much as possible. Without the support of management it is difficult for any new campus to flourish. The success of the IIM Indore Mumbai campus is due to the combined effort of both the management as well as the students.
Entrance Preview
CAT score : 88.91 I was clear about my aim to so PGDM/MBA from an IIM. Being only waitlisted in other IIMs, due to the time limit in hand I chose to be part of the first batch of IIM Indore- Mumbai Campus which turned out to be a right decision.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose a mix of Marketing and Finance subjects during the second year of the course. Some of my electivesa r eas follows: Business Analysis and Valuation, Options futures and Derivatives, IAPM, Insurance, B2B Marketing, Sales and Distribution Management, Supply Chain Management.
Internships Opportunities
Companies form various sectors gave opportunity to the 2012-14 batch besides being the first batch of a college.e.g. NCDEX, Johnson and Johnson, ONGC, BHEL, Philips
Placement Experience
It is a great achievement that all the students of the first batch of a college were placed decently. Some of the companies which came for placement were TCS (8-11 lakhs range), Philips (15-18 lakhs), RINL (7-8 lakhs), Housing.com (15- 18 lakhs) among the well known ones. Some were recruited by startups as well with a decent package.
College Events
Being the first batch, we had limited infrastructure at Mumbai. Besides this we were successful in holding internal extra curricular activities- Marketing quizzes, simulation on share market (finance), competitions on consulting/strategy development based on a scenario.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is expensive, but can be serviced with the help of a loan if needed. Being an IIM many banks will provide loans easily. The term wise fee structure makes sure that you need not shell out the entire 15 lakhs in one go.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the subsequent batches, students were provided scholarship on on a case to case basis (if needed). Being an IIM banks will provide you educational loans under better terms.
Campus Life
The Gender ratio for 2012 -15 was approximately 18:100. The campus life helps you grow from the cocoon stage to the amazingly beautiful butterfly. The regional diversity which you get at such premium institutes plays a major part in your development.Also, the activities by various committees will give you ample exposure and experience. Such experience will help you learn as well as will develop your confidence and communication skills.
Hostel Facilities
In 2012-2014, there were no hostels of the Mumbai campus of IIM Indore. You could get accommodation nearby in flats (availing it on a sharing basis will be more pocket friendly). Rent for decent flats may start from Rs.15000 onwards.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni of IIM Indore campus had always been helpful and sharing their knowledge and experience, as well as by providing us opportunities.They have been co-operative by coming or for arranging speakers for our events.
Exam Structure
The Exams/ Labs for a PGDM course are meant to keep u busy and sharpen your skill set for the industry. The course structure at Mumbai campus was great at maintaining the balance, though you may find it very hectic in the initial phase ( you will get used to the new timings).
Faculty
Well experienced professors from the educational sector as well as from the industry with hands on experience. Getting the right professor matters. At least for 80%-85% of the courses the professors were remarkably outstanding of course the curiosity of the students matters when it comes to utilizing the knowledge and experience of the professors.
