Course Curriculum Overview
Mass communication is a full time three year program divided into six semesters.We are given theoretical lively sessions , classroom presentations , tutorials, hand on practical sessions so that we gain deeper insights into the mass media industry.This programme also offers specialization in Broadcast journalism and Data journalism.It is basically focused on the special professional area that the student might choose in future course of action.
Placement Experience
We are also provided with Development sector internships which gives the students direct exposure to focus on the issue at the grass root level and the experience that is required for the student to become sensible media professionals.Lat year our college recorded 89% placement record.Top notch companies such as BCCI , NDTV , Flipkart.com , Adfactors PR , CNN - IBN visited our campus and gave selected a pool of candidates.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The hostel fees for girls hostel is 1,14000 p.a if you have taken a double seater room. You need to deposit a security deposit amount of 15000 which is refundable.The mess charges are 64,500 and thus the total comes down to 1,96000 including the shuttle bus charges of 2500. The academic fees for my course is around 3,00,000 in which you need to deposit an additional amount of 20000 ( Center deposit) which is refundable. I consider this fees a little bit expensive .
Campus Life
At our college we are taken to field trips which are a key part of media learning experience . We are also taken to production locations , printing presses , film and recording studios etc. Vaividhya which is an annual intra college competition organised by the cultural club of our college so that the students can showcase their talent. Moreover IN TRUE SPIRITS is an sports event held every year in our college for a period of three days where the students participate in various activities like swimming , table tennis , football , volleyball etc.
Alumni/Alumna
We also have alumni relation cell in our college which keeps our symbiosis family close and connected to each other. This cell organises the annual alumni meet where our seniors tell us about their experiences with the industry , how much they find it difficult in their first place and many more. They guide us in how we should plan our goals.
Admission
In order to get admission in this college one needs to pass an entrance examination which is organised by the university.It is held on the first Saturday of May every year.In order to get shortlist for the second round you need to get a decent score in the test.You can apply via online mode and deposit a non refundable fee of 1750.After that you need to choose your course in which you want to seek admission in . Fill in the necessary details . If you have qualified in the second round you would be called by the college administration for the document verification and thus granted admission in the college.
Faculty
The faculty of our college are really experienced professionals . They all are Phd holders with an experience of 10+ years in media & communication.Our professor Mr. Francis Mathew give us valuable knowledge about how we should cope with the media industry , what are the needs of media professionals etc . The teaching style of each teacher is really very different and innovative . Overall all the teachers of my college are really supportive and helpful.
