Remarks
As I said, it's a government institution, so the administration is a bit slow. But not inefficient. One could get the work done with patience.

IIT JEE, Category Rank 687 I chose chemical engineering at IIT Madrass because it provides india's best systems engineering course.Admissoin proccess is simple. Just crack the IIT JEE, rest of the process will eventually fall in place.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was simple.Compulsory courses of Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Engineering Thermodynamics, Applied Mechanics, Introduction to Design, Computer Science 101, etc for first year. The later years had the core Chemical Engineering courses. Variety of minor courses across any department to choose from. Also, the Humanities Sciences has some cool courses to offer.
Internships Opportunities
I did two interships, both of them I got through 'contacts'.Maybe the institute placement team wasn't working enough or maybe I wasn't skilled enough.I did not get stipend in any of my internships.
Placement Experience
Placements were good.If you are good in academics and/or extra curriculum activities, there are plenty of opportunities since the placement team works hard.If one is even a tad bit serious about getting a job, he/she would definitely get placed.
College Events
Saarang - one of the best cultural festival of our country. From classical Indian music and arts to modern western and everything related to performance Music and Arts.Shaastra- Technical festival of one of India's top Technological Institute. Need I say more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's a government institute. So the fees are feasible. Plus if you look for scholarships, and you are talented enough, you would find plenty of options.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I did not get any scholarship. But there are plenty of options to choose from.Loan is easily available if taken from the institute SBI bank.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is bad. Very few girls. But the events on campus that attracts girls from other colleges are plenty. No one is biased towards your race, caste, religion, sexual orientation. In fact there is a LGBT community in our campus. But one negative aspect of IIT Madras is regionalism. Especially during elections. There are people divided according to five geographic regions, - 1. Gults (People from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana)2. Mallus (Mallyalis from Kerala) 3. Tam (Tam Brahms and other Tamilians)4. Digs (Karnataka and Bangalore rocks)5. Norhties (Maharashtra and above)
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are well maintained and spacious with every hostel having it's own gym, own ground, own Tennis court, Table Tennis room, TV & entertainment room. For me, In first year, three of us shared a triple room, but from second year on, Single room, and ample of privacy to do whatever we want. I have heard that there are more hostels upcoming to accommodate more people.Mess food is better than other IIT colleges because of the mega mess. The caterers provide good food in the fear of their tender being withdrawn.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is strong. We get constant updates about happenings of institute and where the other alumni currently are.IITMAA - IIT Madrads Alumni Association takes care of the alumni and alumni funds, etc.
Exam Structure
Two quizzes and one Endsem exam or Midsem exam and Endsem exam.Plus Surprise Quizzes, Graded Assignments, in class graded assignments, Class participation, Online participation. And some professors also had marks for Attendance.Well, that said, everything depends on course professor.
Faculty
There were so many professors, one can not just stereotype them. But yes, most students chose the electives based on the which prof taught that course. Some wanted serious studies, while others wanted a lenient prof.
