Course Curriculum Overview
the duration of the course is two years divided into four semesters which subjects like portfolio management, fixed income, mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance and lastly financial modelling. Moreover there are six NISM certifications that are added in the course which proves very beneficial for the student in future course of action. The course is designed in such a manner that we become professionals in our course and get to know everything about the securities & portfolio market industry.
Placement Experience
The companies which visited NISM at my time were UTI mutual fund, RBL bank, Stock holding corporation, NSE, NCDEX, SBI mutual funds, Multi commodity exchange of India etc. The highest package allotted was 18 lpa and the average was 6 lpa. Internship offers which was grabbed by some of my batch mates were from IDBI Bank, ICICI bank, Aum capital etc with the minimum stipend of 10,000 per month.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fees for first semester is 1,25000. Fees for books & study is 10,000. There is a one time exam fee of 5000 which needs to be deposited in the foundation course. A separate alumni fee of 2000 is also paid.Thus the total fees for two years comes down to 5.6 L after including all the other charges which I consider is very nominal.
Campus Life
indoor sports tournament is held every year so that the students can participate and compete with each other in games like chess, caram board, table tennis, squash etc and win the medal. NISM musical event is also organised by the student council . Other activities include freshers day, farewell of seniors, Teachers day celebration, Index session report etc . The labs of the campus are well maintained and equipped with the latest technology so that the students do not have any hassle in future.
Hostel Facilities
The college has a lot of facilities provided to its students such as swimming pool, cricket ground, yoga room, basketball & tennis courts, gym etc. The commercial canteen of the college is well developed and the mess food is overall good and healthily. The hostel rooms are quite spacious with 1000 occupancies in the girls hostel only. Other facilities which is provided with the hostels are laundry facility, good internet connection , water coolers and separate bathrooms. On call ambulance facility is available if any student is facing any serious medical condition. The housekeeping is always available and there is always a strict security at the main gate of the college campus.
Admission
The students seeking admission in NISM needs to clear entrance exams like XAT/MAT/CMAT/CAT/ATMA/GMAT or MAH CET ( management).Other than that you need to have at least 50% marks in 12th standard for the general category and 45% in case of reserved one. The student must also hold a three years Bachelor degree in any field except for fine arts. The admission is strictly merit based. After applying online and filling in the necessary details I was called for the group discussion and interview round. Later scoring good in the GD I was given admission in the college.
Faculty
Many teachers of the college are friendly and kind to the students. They are always there to help the students in the moments of stress. Some of the faculty staff of NISM are former working staff of SEBI or RBI which provide guidance and practical insight on the banking and securities industry. The teaching style of every teacher is different which I believe is a blessing in disguise for the students of NISM.
