Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is excellent, and has core courses, elective courses as well as interdisciplinary courses. The areas include Basic Physiology, Human Nutrition, Basic Microbiology, Prenatal Care and Education, Statistics and Foundation Course in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Placement Experience
The students experience different projects and field works. Many activities are organized by the department which include Bakery Visits, Hospital Visits, Dissertation work, Anganwadi Visits and others. This helps the students for getting placed in the future.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure of the program is Rs. 3,000 which has to be paid every semester. Other than that, Rs. 500 is the online application fee. The tuition fee is feasible, and hence can be afforded by every student.
Campus Life
The college organizes various extracurricular activities and lab works. The departmental activities include Mid Day Meal 'Menu Plan', Breast Feeding Week (Poster Presentation), National Nutrition Week. The students are regularly trained in various lab works like Food & Nutrition Lab, Physio & Micro Lab and other practical trainings like seminar presentation, expert lectures. The university also organizes programs such as Navratri Celebration, Independence Day and others.
Admission
M.Sc in Foods and Nutrition is a fulltime two years course. To get selected in the programme, you need a B.Sc in Food and Nutrition/Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics/Home Science/ B.A. Home Science/ B.R.S Home Science. There is no entrance exam or personal interview.
Faculty
The Head of Department is Dr. Kamalamani R.Rao, who is extremely talented and highly qualified. The other faculty members include Shri Krishna Thakkar and Dr. Neeta Chaudhary. They focus on different areas of research which include Food, Nutrition and Human Development.
