Entrance Preview
I took the VIT entrance exam and got a rank of 101-1000. I had given other exams as well but computer science in VIT was always my first choice. I also was eligible for COEP but I wanted a change so I moved to it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is a good mix of theoretical and practical knowledge. It's very balanced. Core aspects include software development and testing, Algorithms, logic, data management, solutions of IT.
Internships Opportunities
We haven't been approached yet, but talks have been buzzing about certain opportunities in foreign countries like Australia, Spain, etc. The stipend doesn't matter for me, experience.
Placement Experience
In the last pass out batch of 2016, a record 7497 jobs were offered only in the IT sector alone. This included top companies like Google, Amazon, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, and Cognizant.
College Events
There is an annual 3-day technological and business fest called VIT as which has more than 50 activities. Also, VITMUN, IMPACT, and IEYS are held to train us in international relations. Rubik's cube challenge is held by the cube association.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I'd say the fee structure is a little expensive, but looking at the amenities and facilities, it's totally worth it. Fees are 12.5 lakh, similar to Manipal university but with much better amenities.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes. State/Central board toppers get a 100% tuition fee waiver. Ranks 1-50 in the entrance exam get a 75% tuition fee waiver. Ranks 51-100 in the entrance exam gets 50%tuition waiver. Ranks 101-1000 get a 25% tuition fee waiver.
Campus Life
There are more than 30 student clubs in the college including debate societies, cricket teams, football teams, squash teams, and the like. There is a swimming pool, billiards table, and an air-conditioned gym.
Alumni/Alumna
They're very helpful and warm. They're amiable and approachable. If any of us have a problem, we help each other out together. The alumni are always ready to give donations whenever required.
Exam Structure
Exams and practicals are held very frequently so we're in constant touch with our studies. It's quite hectic, including the lab sessions but nothing I don't enjoy.
Faculty
The faculty is decent. But judging by what students of other engineering colleges make of their faculty, I'd say ours is one of the best because there are a lot of young teachers too.
