Remarks

The only bad remark about VIT is that its intake has been increasing drastically and as an attempt to control such huge numbers, Strict Rules are coming into place. Apart from this Vit is really "A Pace to Learn and A Chance to Grow."

Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE, BITSAT but didn't get a good score in them. I have got considerably good ranks in VITEE, MANIPAL, AMRITHA, GITAMS, KLU. But, I made up my mind to join VIT University. I did a background check on the college and found it to be one of the best private universities. The infrastructure of the university is excellent and the learning process is not just classroom-based but is much more and it encourages a student to explore his ideas and gives him practical knowledge. In addition to all these things excellent placement opportunities and a friendly campus environment during my visit made me opt for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Now, this is something very interesting in VIT. During a student's admission, he/she will be provided with the course curriculum. It contains the list of courses which are must for his/her branch and electives some of which will be in his/her branch and some in other branches. There won't be any compulsion as to what subjects you have to opt for a particular semester. The electives are pretty interesting subjects in Marketing/Accounting/Finance/Law/Ethics etc. You can choose your subjects in any of these domains.

Internships Opportunities

A lot of companies offered internship offers to students. Companies like Cisco, Oracle, Amazon, Philips, Caterpillar offered internships as well as Full time. The internship stipend ranged from 15000-40000.

Placement Experience

4.5

VIT brings excellent placement opportunities to its students for every course/branch. Mostly all people get a place in one company or the other. Here placements are categorized into three. 1.Mass placements (Companies hire in large numbers CTC: 3.3-3.5 L)2. Dream placements(Companies hire according to their requirement CTC: 4-6 L)3. Super Dream(Companies hire according to their requirement CTC: 8 and above) Lot of people get placed in every category. Some students have multiple offers. A glimpse into this year's mass placements. Five IT majors - Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, and Accenture - together have made 7, 947 offers at VIT University.COGNIZANT-1914, TCS-1864. INFOSYS-1456. ACCENTURE-1472, WIPRO-1241, etc.

College Events

5

Every day in VIT has at least a technical or cultural events conducted by Clubs in the University. The university officially conducts a technical(graVITas) and a cultural fest(RIVIERA). gravitas is a technical fest conducted during September that encourages students to display their academic knowledge by conducting various activities. Internationa seminars take place every in the three-day event. Riviera is purely a cultural fest. It is really a feast for the first-years. It is a three-day event and all the clubs in the university conduct some events. There will be dance competitions, Style checks, etc. These three days are really enjoyable as every night celebrity singers and rock bands are brought to give their performances. I remember my first year during riviera. Shankar Mahadevan was the guest for the night and it was awesome. Last year along with Mohit Chauhan, Sriram Chandra, and several other singers came to Actor Arjun Kapoor. Students really get to enjoy it very well.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students who maintain 100% attendance will be awarded some amount as an acknowledgment for their passion and dedication. The top 10 students of each branch are provided with scholarships.

Campus Life

4.5

Inside the walls of the campus, you will find a lot of creative energy and an electric atmosphere for someone who is into extra-curricular activities like Music, Dance, Sports, etc. The international connections at this college have been really amazing. If you are really good then the college lets you pursue projects, research, or even a whole semester in one of the partner universities abroad. There is a strong presence of the Red Cross as they organize blood drives and different health check-ups. Toastmaster International club has grown and is an awesome place to meet new people. The Debate Society is also another such place. The technical clubs like IEEE/IEI/ISTE / CSI etc keep their club members engaged in activities. Food courts near TT and Le Cafe in SJT give you a wide variety of choices from Indian delicacies to Continental and Chinese cuisine. There are Nescafe's all around the campus for some hot puffs and coffee during the breaks between the classes.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are good, There will be a hostel room counselling. A student will be given a rank based on his academic performance and he/she can choose the room type(1/2/4/6 bed) and roommates depending on the availability during their turn in counselling. Food facilities are present in most of the hostel blocks. However, If a student doesn't like the food facilities in his or her block, he/she can change mess to another block at the end of the month.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors do give important suggestions which help during placements.VITAA stands for VIT alumni association and all the members meet in vit on a particular day and share their experiences with the university and about their current life and what VIT has meant for them.

Exam Structure

The total for 100 is divided into 50 for external (Final Sem Exam) and 50 for internals( 2 continuous assessment tests(CAT), 3 quizzes, 1 assignment). Each CAT will be for 50 marks and 15% of its score is considered for final score. Each quiz and assignment will be for 5 marks and these are directly taken into final score. The Final Term Exam will be for 100 marks and 50% is considered. CAT I &II(pass mark 25/50) {30% of total}QUIZ AND ASSIGNMENT (20 marks of total)Final Assessment test( pass mark 40/100) {50% of total)If lab is present for the subject, all above mentioned are again taken for 75%. Lab marks are considered to be 25%. Lab marks are again external(Sem Exam 50%) and internal(Mid term+Record evaluation 50%) For every subject which has lab two hours per week has to be spent for that lab class.

Faculty

4.5

The university should really be proud of its faculty. It has the best members in every field of Engineering. Most of the faculty have a PHD from IIT's all over India. They provide us with theoretical as well as practical knowledge. They help us with our projects and encourage to publish papers in renowned journals.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
