Remarks

To answer this question I would to like to bifurcate my points and explain them: 1. The Good aspects of BESC: a) Excellent faculty for B.Com, all are CA, CS charter holders. b) Extra courses which helps students to be industry ready. c) Internship Opportunities. d) Extra curricular activities. Bad Aspect: Attendance is not really mandatory. This is only applicable for B.Com department. This can also be a boon to students pursuing CA/CS or other professional courses. 2. Admission process and Dates: After Class 12th results are out, college will release its admission forms and details on the college website. Look up for it and then you can take a lead from there. 3. Reason why you should prefer BESC: Because of the renowned faculty, trust me its the best you can get for commerce. Also, students get industry knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum for the B.Com(H) is the same which is prescribed under Calcutta University. It includes 6 semesters in total , and each semester will contain 2 Core Honours paper. For example, in Semester 3, there are 4 subjects: a) IT b) Indian Financial System (IFS) c) Financial Accounting-II d) Maths and Statistics, here FA-II and IFS are Honours papers. In the last year, i.e, 3rd year or 5th+6th semester, students are allowed to choose specialization from among 4 topics. Faculty members at BESC for B.Com department are excellent, and probably one of the best in Kolkata. Their method of teaching is very student friendly. One or two might be strict, but maximum of the professors explain things to us in a very very simple way so that everyone understands. If you attend classes regularly, you need not take private tuition.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships are provided by the college itself. There will be a lot of companies coming and interviewing students and choose them accordingly.

Placement Experience

3.5

Campus Placements do happen. Companies do come, companies like Deloitte, Amazon, EY etc. but students need to have a good academic record in order to get placed. As I have mentioned, there are more than 1K students, so you have to fight for your job. I am not aware of the average package , but it lies somewhere between 3LPA- 8/9LPA. Most of the students go ahead to pursue MBA or continue with their CA/CS article ship. I'm not quite aware of the CA or other professional degree courses, as I plan to move ahead with the MBA option.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for Bachelor of Commerce ( Honours ) per year is almost around ?49,500. It is subject to increase as well. Fees are not taken semester wise, but year basis. For example, if the fees for 1st year is ?49,000, then it is the fees of Semester 1+2. Scholarships are available to those who have scored 90.00% and above in their class 12th. This 90.00% must be calculated including 5 subjects on the score sheet and not "best of 4". On Campus placements do happen, but to get recruited by good companies like, EY, Deloitte, Amazon etc. students need to keep an extremely good score, as B.Com department has more than 1000 students. So you have to fight for your placement.

Campus Life

5

Social Life is extremely good in BESC The annual fest of the college is UMANG, one of the most popular fests in the country where celebs including Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi, Salim Suleiman etc. came to perform. It is conducted in the month of January/ December. Library is place where you must go if you get in. Its one of the best places of the college, fully air conditioned, world class infrastructure and enough books for a batch to use. Classrooms are fully air conditioned too. Infrastructure is really really good. There is a sports room also, where games such as ludo, chess carom to snooker , darts are played. Social groups run by students include: Music Club, Dance Club, Debating and MUN, Painting, Poetry, Photography, Business and Entrepreneurship, Acting and theatre, Student Exchange, NCC, NSS, etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
