
Entrance Preview
IIT JEE, I chose this course over others as iron and steel making was my interest area, which forms an integral part of the metallurgical eng. course. Admission process included 2 exams, 1 for screening through an objective test of Maths, Physics and Chemistry, while the other being a subjective exam for each of these subjects. Around top 5000 of the total 3 lakh candidates were finally granted admission into the IITs.
Course Curriculum Overview
It included common subjects like Maths, Physics, Eng. Drawing in the first year. Thereafter, cire subjects were taught such as phase transformation, Iron & Steel making etc. Also, we got electives options every semester such as Pshycology, Sociology, Art and film making, History of science etc.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft, Google, JP Morgan, Schlumberger etc. All came for internships. Core companies came as well such as Tata Steel, BARC etc. Stipend ranged from 10k per month to 50k per month depending on the company.
Placement Experience
100% placement Core companies Tata Steel (8 LPA), Jindal (7 LPA) etc. Microsoft ( 20-30 LPA) Schlumberger ( 24-40 LPA)abd several more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is quite cheap compared to private colleges. In my time, it was around 20k per semester. It has now been increased to about 40k per semester in my knowledge.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are quite a few good scholarships. Need to check on institute website. I availed the Tata Steel millenium scholarship from Tata Steel due to excellence in academic achievements.

Exam Structure
Exams happened 3 times in each semester. 2 midsems and 1 end sem exam. Quizzes happened 2-3 times for each subject in a semester. It was a balanced academic environment.
