Remarks
Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam University is a peaceful campus with many scopes for development and the growth in the coming years. I personally am loving my experience and look forward to fostering my research capabilities with the aid of our impressive faculty and state of the art infrastructure.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is expansive in the sense that it has incorporated many disciplines within the field of psychology but it lacks in terms of being up to date with the recent developments and research trends. Each paper carries a total of 100 marks which is divided among the end semester examination, mid-semester exam/ assignment and practicum( which is there in every semester). I am currently in my second semester, but I am sure that once I finish the two semesters I will be well versed in the foundations of the diverse disciplines of psychology.
Placement Experience
As of now, there are no placements for this particular course from the institute. But the curriculum does indicate the provision of an internship in the final semester which is to be done from outside.
College Events
Every year the annual techno-cultural fest ' synapse' is conducted around February- March. It is a meeting point for the intellectuals to brainstorm ideas and test them in a competing environment. It also gives us the opportunity to enjoy and take a break from academic works throughout the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is not that expensive in comparison with many other institutes. This makes it affordable to many students from middle-class families. The fees per annum does not exceed beyond a range of 70,000-80,000.
Campus Life
There are many cells and clubs in the institute which conducts intra-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary competitions throughout the academic year. We have students from many parts of India; this enhances the cultural diversity. Also, we have a strong sports community and there are courts in the campus for volleyball, basketball, ball badminton and tennis. There is also a common room for indoor games that acts as an interaction hub for the students in the evenings.
Admission
The lush green campus and the rich cultural tradition of the university were the main two factors that attracted me. The admission process was purely based on merit as it was simply based on the marks obtained in graduation in the particular stream.
Faculty
The faculties are well qualified and are extremely supportive. Their student-friendly nature fosters a positive attitude in us which helps to a great extent in the teaching-learning process. The dedication and effort they show in teaching inspires us to put forth our best.
