The Duration of the course is 4 years which is divided into 8 semesters. We are taught about an approach to Tanning Industry, Leather Industry and products which focuses on bags, belts, cars, footwear and items of luxury. This course for leather products imparts comprehensive knowledge related to product care, Leather raw materials, processing, training and tours as well as the other aspects of luxury goods industry such as Brand awareness, fashion forecast and modern practices of leather designing.

The Top recruiters in Leather design are Liberty, Bata, Red Tape, Lee Cooper, Hush Puppies, Marks & Spencer, Nike, Reebok, Clarks, Hermis, Luis Vuitton, Stacy Addams, Adidas etc. The job roles that are given to the students are accessory designer, assistant manager, research analyst, retail store manager etc. The average salary offered is around 5 LPA. And Internships are also given to the students in natural/leather/paper/fiber/textile Industry in India.

The fees for one semester is 118050. The examination fees of 4000 is to be deposited every year before the starting of the semester. Thus the total fees for 4 years comes down to 11 Lakhs. The fees structure is quite a bit expensive for me but if I see the placement opportunities offered by NIFT then it is completely affordable.

The Bank loan facilities are provided to the students who are unable to pay their fees. After the years of completion, the fees has to be paid back. Other Scholarship include 50% fee concession which is provided to children of ex-service men, freedom fighters and defense personal. Scholarships are also provided to economically weaker sections whose family income is less than 2 Lakh per annum.

An Annual Fest known as SPECTRUM is organised by the college where the students show their talents such as singing, dancing, drama, stand up comedy, flute competition and tabla making etc. Other celebrations include republic day, Independence day, holi, Diwali, Makarsakranti, Christmas, Bihu etc. Sport activities such as football, basketball, tennis etc are also conducted by the student council.

The admission is done to the course on the basis of CAT and GAT entrance exam which is then followed by a situation test. Other than that, you need to have cleared 12th standard from a recognized board. The maximum age for general category is 23 and for reserved category is 27. After that you can apply for the program online and the short listed candidates will be given admission on the basis of written examinations. A valid SAT score is necessary for admission for foreign nationals.

The Teachers teach us about how the leather material should be choose, whether it is organic or synthetic material and also the process involved in designing and tanning with the high cost of manufacturing. They have so much of skill and eye for every detail that they want to impart students the knowledge of foot anatomy and keen knowledge of textures and foot wear fashion trends. In short I would say that the teachers help and tell us about the techniques and elements of design so that we became industry ready at the end of the course.
