All India Competition. I chose this college because this is India's first college ever in Hotel Management.
Course Curriculum Overview
I do not remember now but the focus was on Kitchen & presentation. It was way to lengthy but fun. We had trouble remembering things but in the end everything went well. Kitchen classes were quite hectic. Best was the F and B classes only because of the professor.
Internships Opportunities
All the 5 star hotels and airlines did come for campus interviews.I did my internship from Taj Mahal Palace and Towers, Mumbai.The stipend was around 500 per month. In my entire 4 years of college, 5 to 6 months spent in Taj were the best phase of my life. It is really Taj
Placement Experience
Though it was Hotel Management college, companies which also came were like INOx, Jet airways came.Taj, Oberois, Hyatt, Jet airways, Cathay pacific did come for the interviews.I remember giving the interview for grand Hyatt and reached the final round.The packages were 2.7 lpa for MT and 3.3 lpa for Corporate trainees.
College Events
We had each and every festival celebrated with enthusiasm.We had diwali, pongal, muharram, onam, holi celebrations in the college.We had handi fidi (janamasthmi) as well.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Feasible. Not expensive at all. It was a government college. The fees were around 1.5 lacs for 3 years degree couese which is quite reasonable these days. During those days other private colleges were charging around 3 to 4 lacs for the entire course.
Hostel Facilities
The food out there was sply mind blowing. We used to wait for the bell to ring so that we can run to the mess or cafeteria to gorge on the finger licking food.
Exam Structure
Kitchen and Bakery practicals were way too hectic.The syllabus was quite lenghty for a hotel management course. Though it was not relevant to the job profile which we had to go through in the jobs. This could have been lessend and more time could have been given on practicals.
Faculty
All of them were real professionals.They had ample experience in terms of teaching. They have been teaching in this college for quite a long time. This is why Ihm Mumbai has been number 1 since a long long time. They never gave us a feeling that they are professors and we are students. Good bonding between all of us.
