Entrance Preview
I appeared for JEE MAIN twice but failed both the time to get a chance to give JEE ADVANCED test which is for IIT.I only scored 77 out of 360 that's just very low score. Reason of my failure is I'm just way too slow in solving such hard problems. It's nothing like that I don't like or can solve such problems. I've solved many IIT JEE, Olympiad level questions but it takes an hour of average to solve 2-3 of them for me. But that's OK I've planned so much for my future. Physics is my core interest but I got struck with biotechnology here just because this is the only stream i was offered on the basis of my score and my parents wanted me to become an engineer cause they earn good.
Course Curriculum Overview
In 1st semester my subjects are physics, optics, oscillations and waves, computer programming , c language, maths, calculus environmental studies, surroundings, pollution, Awareness etc. Basic biology cell organelles, cell cycle, bio molecules, microbes etc. ethics business ethics.
Internships Opportunities
I'm in my 1st semester so I've no college internship experience yet but I saw companies like click labs, jugnoo, Infosys this year in the placement cell. I hope to see more companies related to all streams to come here.
Placement Experience
Maximum package was around 8 lakh per annum last year and minimum is 3.8 lakh per year. Companies like jugnoo, click labs, Infosys come every year in UIET.
College Events
My college students are quite active in participating in all kinds of events. Either it is cultural, technical or related to management. GOONJ is the music festival held by UIET every year. All the events are quite big joyful.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Rs.40,000 per month I don't think feasible for all, including me. But the fee structure for EWS students is low and satisfied. But still challenging whose parents' salary is just above the EWS limit.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since it is a government college any government or private bank will give you an education loan for the students belonging to EWS category fee is very low other than that there are many scholarship programs on the basis of talent, merit, low income etc.
Campus Life
Campus life is enjoyable. Gender ratio is quite balanced. Every month many competition, extracurricular activities is being held by UIET. Boys and Girls both participate equally. Students come here from all over India specially from east side. Nobody talks about economic status. But students get involved in politics when the election comes and I don't like it, but that's my personal opinion. But the sad thing is just like in other places in India nobody even talk about sexual orientation. If you're not straight living(surviving) here is so hard. There's nothing like freedom and rights for LGBT people in Indian society.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good as compared to other colleges. Food given to the hostelers is delicious and meet the quality standards. Yes it's sharing cause 1 room for each student isn't possible. PG's average rentals rate is Rs.4000 per month per person which need to be paid in case we don't get a hostel allotment which is quite expensive.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni and senior students network is great. They'll help you regarding notes, exams, work experience etc if asked and that's a good quality I saw here some people are really supportive.
Exam Structure
Well every person has different choices and interest. So I myself saying I don't like few of my subjects. Otherwise exam structure is quite balanced syllabus can be prepared easily if 2-3 holidays are given for 1 exam.
Faculty
Faculty is good in comparison with other nearby colleges just because UIET is the department of Panjab University. Sufficient parking areas, playground, workshop cell, planted trees, canteen, library and other facilities everything is good.
