Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good and advanced. The subjects adhere to progressive practises in the management world and corporate based learning. My MBA was in materials management so I basically dealt with learning about supply chain and also handling and dipatch of mass materials, on a large scale. The exam is conducted on a semester basis. There are 4 semesters over the course of 2 years. The course is heavily dependent on our skills of making presentations and projects, as is a factor in the best MBA programs.
Placement Experience
Many companies and corporations come in year to hand pick their preferred employees. Companies like Cipla, HDFC, ONGC, L&T, etc come in annually and most of the students, during my time, 90% of the students had got placed in good reputed companies, with starting salary ranging from 2-3 lakhs and going as high as 6 lakhs which is excellent considering the outreach and growth stage of the university and the region of the India. In case a student doesn't get placed, the college placement cell helps us in getting an internship at reputed companies which provides us with experience under our belt.
College Events
Our college participates yearly in Bhartiya Chattra Sansad, which is an annual student political event and discussion event held in MIT, Pune, Maharashtra. Our college yearly send around 50 students from all the departments and streams to the event, therefore we are deeply involved in culture and events of other states. Cultural events which display the zeal and spiciness of the North East culture are held yearly in our college, I remember I participated in a cultural dance with my peers, it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is one of the best in India considering the quality of educations and cultural exposure we are getting from studying in Sikkim University. The fees for a two year course is just 8,130 Rs which is affordable for households with low incomes and the needy but zealous students who want to learn more and get an MBA degree under their belt.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship is provided by the university and can be availed by students who have a yearly household income less than 60,000 INR. Also scholarship can be availed by students in the reserved category who have achieved more than 55% marks in their undergraduate. So therefore the courses are offered at cheap rates with aid which helps the underprivileged and needy get their rights to education and opportunity.
Campus Life
Our college actively participates in sports fests and events year around which are a happening thing in the North East. We have played football and badminton in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Mizoram and states as far as Maharashtra and Kerala. The labs which are affiliated to the science departments are maintained in a good condition with presence of all the necessary appliances, equipments and chemicals. The people I have met here in Sikkim University are some of the most open minded and non judgemental people in India and everyone feels safe and at home.
Admission
I was selected for the program on the basis of the minimum criteria for marks in UG, which is 50% and my score in CAT exam, which is necessary for admission to MBA program in the university. Although MAT and CMAT is also considered. I also have been through interview rounds where questions were asked about my undergraduate course, what I learnt there, my future aims and questions about my management internship.
Faculty
The faculty is one of the most skilled faculty you'll find in that part of the country. They are well versed with their holding subject. I had faced a few issues initially with the subject matter and study pattern which I was dealing with, but upon contacting a couple of my teachers, they immediately helped me and guided me on the proper way to study the subjects and get the most out of it. The faculty brought the best out of us with their positive and chilled attitude which had an impact on me and my peers
