My life in SIBM- Hyderabad

Overall I can say that our institute is one of the best places for education, recreation and personal growth. Its quality has been underlined by the 'A' grade that we received through the NAAC accreditation. Each semester we are observing and experiencing tremendous growth in our institution and I am much proud to say that I am a student of this institute.

Currently, I am in my second semester and from the experience till now I can definitely say that the curriculum is wide-ranging and diverse. Rather than being limited to only the traditional subjects, it includes papers which are in par with the recent developments in the field of business and management. The course was set with a vision into bringing up H.R managers who will be well equipped to cope with the internal and external pressures that can arise in business ventures. Furthermore, the modules included gives particular attention in fostering research and it has tremendously helped me in adopting new perspectives and solutions to problems that may arise in the workplace. The value-added courses, enhancement programs and study tours offered are also proving to be much beneficial for me. The evaluation is based on a choice based credit system. There are both internal and external components which are computed in the final marks for a paper. Group discussions, case studies, simulations, seminars etc are a part of the assessment process.

Every year there is a summer internship programme of eight weeks that provides intensive and hands-on training to the students. The placement activities taking place here and much extensive and almost many of the students manage to acquire a good package with a decent salary. As I am only in my second semester I am unable to share the experience during the in-depth mechanisms of the process. But based on the experiences of our seniors, many prestigious companies come here for the recruitment process. Some of them are Amazon, Atlas Motors, Tech Mahindra, Berger Paints, Reliance and KPMG. Based on the previous year's statistics the average salary package is 7.48 LPA and the highest package is around 10.80 LPA.

Firande Elysium is one of the largest, national management, cultural and sports fest held in our institute. It is usually held during the month of January and is a hub of educational and cultural festivities. There are also other events like book exhibitions, webinars, and various interdisciplinary competitions that takes place throughout the academic year and they are all a huge success and includes high participation from the students.

The fees are paid semester wise and for the first year in total, I paid around 4,18, 400 which included the hostel deposit, institute deposit, hostel fee and mess fee. Second-year a standard fee of 6,00,000 is to be paid which may be subject to change according to any changes brought about in the academic, hostel and mess fees due to the introduction of government taxes and such. Thus for the two years, the total fees may amount to around 14 lakh.

Since it is an institute of world-class quality we have students from many corners of the world. Thus a vibrant and diverse cultural diversity is visible throughout the campus. The activities organized by the various student clubs and committees ensures the interaction of students from different streams, paving the way to a colourful campus life. It is definitely a new and varied experience for me and I am looking forward to my remaining time here.

The hostel facilities are extremely good and spacious with rooms available on single, double, triple, four people sharing basis. Dormitories are also available. I chose a double room and I am definitely satisfied with it. Separate laundry rooms are also available. So overall the accommodation facilities are pretty good.

The admission process actually ensued various stages and the staff and administration were very student-friendly throughout the entire procedure. Initially, I appeared for the entrance exam conducted by the university, the SNAP( Symbiosis National Aptitude Test). And based on the marks I obtained in the exam I was called for the next round, which included a group discussion, personal interview and a written ability test. Since I performed considerably well in these areas I was selected for the course, after the document verification.

All our faculties are extremely talented and well qualified. They use a range of pedagogical techniques, like role plays, discussions, presentations etc in the teaching-learning process. They are also very supportive and motivates us every step of the way, not only in the course alone but also in pursuing research and other projects.
