Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science is an autonomous institution. It has won the best affiliated college of Goa University and the DBT star college scheme. Their core values are honesty, integrity, moral responsibility, sicilia responsibility and life long learner.
Course Curriculum Overview
We have atleast one core paper for each semester. From second year onwards, we will be having 4 core elective papers for each semester. In first and second semester, we have practicals in measurement systems, physical geography, human geography and regional geography. The college follows the CBCS pattern.
Placement Experience
The career and personal counselling centre to give guidance to the students. They conduct personal grooming workshops, personality enhancement course, career guidance camps, seminars, guest lectures, etc. The college only helps to buildup these skills. But the placement is poor.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure differs for each course. For B.Sc., Geography, the fee is around ?.20,000 per year of study. This accounts towards the tuition fee. Apart from this, you have to pay the exam fee prior to each semester exam.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college supports various government schemes and provide them to the right students. They are Post matric scholarship, The Bursary Scheme, free wavier scheme for SC/ST, Dayanand Bandodkar scheme, Merit cum Means scholarship, Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana, etc.
Campus Life
The college safeguards the students from ragging issues by their anti-ragging cell. There are many clubs and committees which conducts various events. The sports and games club of the college is a highly rated one, because of the facility and support provided by the college. There is a ground of an area 4 acre for outdoor and indoor games. There are women welfare committee, NSS, EDC, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The college provides separate hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. There are dormitory, two sharing rooms and single occupancy rooms for the students choice. There is also an option for independent accommodation which will be given with or without furnishing. The room rates different according to sharing and AC/Non-AC. Normally ?.10,000/- is paid as an caution deposit.
Admission
The application form is available only through their online college portal. You can find it on http://chowgules.ac.in/admission/ . The selection is based on the merit marks obtained at higher secondary or any equivalent exams. They will call you for a personal counselling which ia part of the selection process.
Faculty
The Department of Geography is the only department under Goa University to offer this course. The department has so far 3 ongoing projects, published 40 research publications, conducted 10 short-term courses, and organized many conferences. We have about 14 faculty members who support us in all the possible ways and make us shine in our career.
