Remarks
I am in my third year in this college and honestly I don't find any bad aspects of this college. The seniors are very good. They help when asked and never once they have been intimidating. There has been no cases of ragging and the college authorities make sure that. My department teachers have nothing but amazing to us. They go above and beyond to organise events and cultural programmes to keep our spirits up. We went to a trip last year and it was so meticulously planned so that no one has any issues it's amazing. The admission process is also so so hassle free. I did not have to face any issue. Just had to wait for my name in merit list, they informed us a date via text and I had to bring the necessary papers and I was admitted that day. Truly, one of the good colleges in India.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for English Cons. course because it was always my dream to pursue English and to to able to study this subject under the guidance of an amazing bunch of professors is actually a dream come true. There are almost 10 teachers in our department with 150 students. Being under Calcutta university the exams were according to the guidelines provided by the university and in my personal experience the examinations were hard but not impossible. The teachers are of higher qualifications possessing great knowledge with few of them being doctorate holders.
Internships Opportunities
Yes. To my knowledge we had on campus internship for example the library internship which was paid but not too much.
Placement Experience
My course is not eligible for campus placements. Degrees in commerce are eligible. But I've learned from my friends the chances of getting a job is very good. And I plan to do masters in English after my bachelors.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my first year I got admission with approx 35 thousand -40 thousand and in my second year they charged around the same. There is scholarship available for students who score more than 90% in their examinations.
Campus Life
UMANG is the name of the cultural fest that happens every year. The classrooms are all air conditioned for our comfort. The books in the libraries are well stocked and even let us use computers for research. There is an annual sports programme and there are various dance , singing, debate , acting clubs run by students.
Interview Experience
There was no admission test for my Hons course but there was admission test for my general subject Sociology and the seats were limited. They gave us the list of topics we should study before the examination. And out of a large number of students 50 were qualified for the class including me.
