Remarks
RVCE is THE top rated and moreover top performing college in Bangalore and one of the elite colleges in all of South India in terms of the offered courses, placement offers made, and hosts the best of the cohort in its four year BTech programme. It's undergraduate programme in Electronics and Communication is the most sought after with extremely high cut off ranks for General Category being in two digits year after year. The various student clubs and organisations including both technical and non technical ones, offer a perfect all-round development opportunity for any aspiring individual who seeks to pursue engineering here. The lush green and full of life 52 acre campus is only a pronouncement of the modern and top class infrastructure facilities available to the students including dedicated building complexes for all 12 departments, and on campus state-of-the-art hostel facility housing almost over a 1000 students.Given all of the above mentioned perks and achievements of RVCE, and my deep diving interest in Electronics, I decided to pursue my undergraduate studies here after having made the cut offs in the highly competitive KCET 2014 entrance exam.
Course Curriculum Overview
The department of Electronics and Communication always followed a 4 year revision policy for its curriculum and we were the 3rd batch of the curriculum constituted in 2012. The curriculum was very well equipped and in complete compliance with the industry requirements in almost all the fields. Although, it was initially a little uneasy for the faculty to upgrade their knowledge and teaching methodologies at such pace, much of it was delivered satisfactorily and we'll enough to help students learn and experiment enthusiastically. Some of the professors went beyond traditional classroom teaching methods to help students grasp concepts at ease and that too proactively. Dr. Y Gopala Rao (famously called YGR Sir) was one of our favorite professors for Analog Microelectronics, besides a host of other teachers that took subjects ranging from Signal Processing to Digital Electronics and Microcontrollers to Microwaves.
Placement Experience
100% placement, with an average 1.5 offers made for every student. World class corporates visit the campus hiring the students at whopping packages as high as 40 Lakhs PA. There are a good number of IT companies and an equally good number of core companies visiting campus year on year for nearly all the courses offered in the college.
College Events
The annual techo-cultural fest 8th Mile - one of the largest fests in all of South India which sees a footfall of over 5000 every year.E-Summit - The annual Entrepreneurship Summit for the young entrepreneurs and engineers which in its past 4 editions has seen over a 100 renowned speakers and leaders from the startup world, and inspired multiple in-campus startups from RVCE.Under The People Tree (UTPT) - The largest Quiz Competition for students in all of Asia, conducted annually.Google about the above events to more.
Campus Life
Excellent sports infrastructure with dedicated sets of Indoor and Outdoor Sports Complexes. Pretty evident is that RVCE produced legendary sportstars like Anil Kumble and Chetan Baboor from its grounds. All round WiFi throughout the campus with good connectivity and fairly good speed. The labs usually were managed by many industry giants who collaborated with the college as a part of Industry-Institute Interactions and Initiatives, and hence were well equipped with good set of tools/machinery and other lab equipment (For instance, the Texas Instruments Lab and NXP Semiconductors Lab in ECE department).RVCE is proud to have the largest library among all engineering institutes in Bangalore with a seating capacity of over 200 at a time and almost over 25000 paperback and 15000 eBooks. A full fledged Digital Library with almost over 50 computer systems is also provided to the aid of students and faculty to carry out research and development work on several projects requiring detailed literature surveys and research.
Hostel Facilities
Four dedicated hostel complexes (one for each year in BTech) and another complex for MTech students. 3-sharing rooms in first year, followed by 2-sharing rooms in second and third year. Single rooms in final year. Hostels can accomodate almost 70-80 % of the demand, and are generally alloted by giving preferences to those who hail from outside the city. The rest of them seek accommodation in nearby PGs which are also reasonable in price.
