Remarks
This college has a history of producing excellent scholars. I had checked on various website for best geography college in kolkata, every time i searched Asutosh college was always at the top. The professors and the faculty members here are highly experienced and friendly with the students. At present only one thing is most disturbing is that lots of bengali books are are available in the market with already made notes. Where as english version books are also available but the the topics are scattered. One single book dosent contain the details as those in bengali version. There are also professors who write their own book so I don't think that this problem will last long. Talking about the infrastructure, all the rooms are air conditioned with power backup and also a lift for specially abled candidates. It has its own three auditoriums, where every year one of the best celebrities are invited for the freshers party. It also has its football, volleyball and cricket ground and team
Course Curriculum Overview
I love nature and to be close to the nature geography is the best subject. Thus I decided to take geography as a career option. Faculty members are highly cooperative. What ever be the time one can ask for help regarding any topic professors are always there to solve the quarries. On the other hand students are highly competitive as well as helpful. After the removal of yearly system the CBCS system took plane which is further divided into six semesters. Each semester takes place at an interval of six months. Thus students have to sit for their exams twice a year. Students can easily pass all the semester in one go if they pay attention to their professors. Our HOD after teaching a lesson always asks the students to explain it but they should remember that they explaining the topic to a "fuchka wala"..
Placement Experience
There is no placement at all. At least not in our department. I am pursuing my graduation right now. Students have to find there own jobs according to their qualifications.
Fees and Financial Aid
The admission fee is much lower than any other college which is 560/- only. But semester wise admission fees is too high that is 5700 rs. and it increases by 10 rs. with every semester.
Campus Life
Every year we have an annual fest conducted by students named, "SPARDHA". Which generally takes place during the month of December before winter vacation. The college has its own big sized auditorium. Various sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, karate etc are a part of this college. A group named" Asutosh helpdesk" on Facebook, students can get help regarding any matter as it is runned by the college seniors. All important dates are published on this social group
